Mint Mocha Frappuccino

“I feel the need”…”the need for speed.”  Can you guess what movie those lines are from?  I love playing this game.     😉  (See below for the answer).  I’m furiously decorating the tree and the house for Christmas.  (Yes, we are one of those who got our tree the weekend before Thanksgiving since it’s so late this year.  Don’t judge us.     😉 )  I needed a little pick-me up.  Coffee to the rescue!  I wanted a coffee with some holiday flair to it, to match my festive mood, more than the standard Cafe Frappe (aka Greek iced coffee).

Candy canes are an iconic flavor this time of the year so I’ve made this minty mocha frozen drink using Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Flavored Candies.

(Serves 1)

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1.  Put the instant coffee and skim milk in a blender and mix until well combined.
  2. Add in the ice, caramel syrup, and Hershey’s Kisses into a blender and mix until everything is smooth.

Meet the magic of this awesome frappuccino!  These Hershey’s Kisses are white chocolate and red stripes filled with candy cane bits.  They are heaven on their own, but then I had an idea.  What if I added them to a frozen coffee drink?

This is what happens…

Who needs mint extract?  Not this recipe!  These candies have the perfect amount of minty-ness.  They also don’t have the problem of sticking in your teeth like ground up candy canes or star light mints.

As you drink this festive beverage you can see all the lovely candy cane bits from the Kisses. Side bar, I take no responsibility for you drinking a sugar filled caffeinated beverage too quickly.  I found this so yummy that I drank a liiiitle too fast, so I definitely have found that speed that I was looking for.     😉  (Can you tell from the multiple number of wink-y faces?  Try reading this post fast and that’s how I’m typing it.  Hehe.)

Of course I had to decorate this frosty beverage with some whipped cream and I sprinkled some chopped Hershey’s Kisses on top.

I’ve been getting peppermint mochas from Starbucks lately like it’s my job. But how much better to be able to make them at home and with MINT. Love it!

    1. Tina says:

I’m so addicted to this mint frap!

  3. Really, who does need mint extract when they can blend up Hershey’s kisses into coffee?! These pictures are wonderful and that whipped cream on top – gorgeous. This is worthy of Starbucks and I’m appreciating the fact that I don’t have to go anywhere to get it. Perfect presentation, recipe, and photos Tina!

    1. Tina says:

You are so sweet Mary Frances! Thank you, kindly. 🙂

    1. Tina says:

I love the experience of a coffee shop, but not coffee shop prices!

  6. I love how festive and yummy this drink looks – love the straw too!

    1. Tina says:

      Thanks Pamela!

  7. These sound so yummy! Since I’m sort of out of the loop over here in Germany I had no idea these Hershey’s Candy Cane Flavored Kisses existed…probably would have been better that way. 🙂

    1. Tina says:

Don’t feel left out…I didn’t know they existed until I saw them on the shelves last week!

  8. Kelly says:

This looks so yummy Tina! I have been on a peppermint kick lately too and can’t wait to try this, thanks for sharing 🙂 Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

    1. Tina says:

I did have a lovely time with family this past weekend. Thank you for asking. 🙂 Now it’s back to eating healthy, working out, and work. 😉
I’ve been craving mint too so I’ve been munching on these candy cane kisses everyday. Thank goodness I saved enough to make this fab drink. 🙂

  9. I need this in my life like right now. Seriously, Tina, this looks amazing! Those little kisses are the cutest thing ever, by the way!
I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving day! 🙂

    1. Tina says:

      Hehe, that’s awesome!
Thanksgiving was wonderful with the family…sooo much food! Thank you for asking, Consuelo. 🙂

  10. This looks the perfect minty frappy and perfect to celebrate while putting up the tree. I gave up coffee and all caffeine about 10 months ago but maybe just one decaffeinated minty frappy will be just what the doctor ordered to get into the holiday spirit.

    1. Tina says:

My husband has recently given up caffeine too! I think instant coffee comes in de-caf, but I’m not sure. For my him, I simply swapped out the milk and instant coffee from this recipe and used about a 1/2 cup of cold de-caf coffee. Equally amazing. 🙂

  11. Those peppermint hersheys are actually my weakness! They sell them at a bulk store near my office and I swear I am single-handedly going to finish the whole box! This looks fab 🙂

    1. Tina says:

Lol! I had never seen these Kisses until last week. I’m addicted them! I came up with this drink because I figured there was another way to eat them than besides the handful. 😉

  12. This sounds delicious! I love that you used those Hershey’s candy cane kisses…totally eliminates the problem of big, cold chunks of candy canes in the drink!

    1. Tina says:

      Thanks so much! 🙂

  13. marcie says:

Oh yum, Tina! I buy those Hershey’s Peppermint Candy Cane Kisses every year — they’re way better than eating a plain old candy cane. This drink is right up my alley. Pinning!

    1. Tina says:

I’ve never seen these candy cane kisses until last week…I’ve been missing out and need to make up for lost time. 😉 Thank you for pinning Marcie. 🙂

  14. This sounds fantastic! I made a peppermint eggnog shake that I will be posting soon! Love this time of year and all of the drinks that come with it!

  16. Loretta says:

Sometimes I wish I was the type of person that ‘styled’ their foods even a fraction as much as I do when I’m shooting it. It’s always more fun to eat ‘pretty’ food, isn’t it? And I think this definitely qualifies! Beautiful 🙂

    1. Tina says:

You are so right! I’ve made this coffee drink for myself several times, but it’s never in the fun glass, straw and topped with whipped cream. Oh well. 😉
      Thank you so much. 🙂

  17. Monica says:

Tina, I make my own mocha frap at home almost every weekday morning. I’ve been saving a ton of money since doing it at home! : ) I’m so happy to see your mint version – it looks awesome! : )

    1. Tina says:

That’s awesome! Thanks so much. 🙂
