Oreo Brownies

Everyone can make brownies.  It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert baker or if you’re on a budget, you can find a brownie recipe that works for you.  (Or buy a box mix for cheap if you aren’t feeling making it from scratch, but that’s not what this post is about.)  Brownies unite us!  What, too dramatic?

03Oreo Brownies

I’m partial to my Fudgy Brownies that I’ve been making for years.  They are quick and easy to whip up.  If you’re a beginner baker then it is a great recipe for you.  Plus, there’s a reason why I’ve made them a trillion times and I continue to make them.  They always come out so darn delicious!

Now if you’re looking for a basic brownie recipe, you can simply stop here and head over to that post and make them.  No one will fault you.     😉  You are still baking a winning recipe.  If you want to get crazy, then stick with me.

04Oreo Brownies

Add some Oreo cookies to this chocolate party!  Yes, this is me going “crazy.”  Sorry, if you were expecting more.  Who can refuse an Oreo or a brownie, let alone both combined together?

02Oreo Brownies

When I say that these brownies are “fudgy” I do not mean that they are “fudge.”  That’s a different recipe and frankly something more like what my husband would make.  These are super duper moist and chewy, not cakey.  I’ll let the photos explain what I’m talking about here because words aren’t going to get it across quite right.  If you like what you see then it doesn’t matter what I call them.

I had fun with these Halloween Oreos.  They taste the same as the regular Oreos, but the cream is colored orange and they have a bunch of fun pictures on them.  Of course you could make these brownies 365 days a year and substitute with another Oreo variety.  Even the flavored ones if you want to be brave.

01Oreo Brownies

You get a little crunch of cookie in every bite.  Can you see the dark chocolate Oreo cookie bits?  Yum.  Some of the Oreo cream will melt into the brownie while it bakes so you never know how much “orange” you will get in your piece until you dive in!  How fun is that?!

So who’s up for some brownies?

  1. Fudgy brownies are the best, but these look like an epic version of them. I want to eat them through the screen!

    1. Tina says:

Haha…sounds dangerous. 😉 But they are seriously epic. 🙂

  2. Oreo and brownie in the same recipe. Yum!

    1. Tina says:

      Oh yeah!

  3. Crystal says:

Yum! They are nut free for our nut free house too! I somehow missed the original brownie recipe thanks for that! It’s almost impossible to get safe boxed brownies. I have no idea why I never thought of baking them. Oreos are my kids favorite, so I’ll have to try these for sure! Silly question.. regular Oreos or the double stuffed ones. In the picture they look double stuffed. I’m sure the cream amount differences could mess up the recipe.

    1. Tina says:

Not a silly question and I’m glad that you asked. The Halloween Oreos are regular stuffed. I have not tried using double stuffed Oreos in this recipe so I don’t know how the brownies would come out. It is possible that the double stuffed ones could change the texture of the brownie and you might need to alter the baking time (although I’m sure it would still taste great if you felt like experimenting).
I’m glad you found a nut free recipe for your house and I think your kids will love these. 🙂

  4. Wauw, these sure look fudge! Yum. And what a great twist on brownies – perfect for Halloween 🙂

Oreos in brownies!! That would solve the dilemma for the chocolate lovers in my family without them feeling guilty as to what to choose. Now they can have both in one dessert and not feel like they over indulged. Thanks Tina!

    1. Tina says:

      You got it!! 🙂

  8. My kitchen is full of my parent’s dinner guests…… but all I want to do is make these brownies ASAP!!! I guess drooling over them here will have to do for now!

  18. fatema says:

    hey Tina,

I’ve been using this recipe since 2016 and I never use another one as these brownies are nice and chewy. I wanted 2 ask do you use an electric whisk or just mix/whisk everything by hand? when you are placing your batter into the tray is ure batter quite stiff or is it wet. mines quite stiff so hard to move around and I was jist wondering if that’s because I dont use an electric whisk. thank you for the amazing recipe

    1. Tina says:

I use an electric hand mixer, but you can definitely mix by hand instead. The brownie batter is thick so I do use a spatula to evenly distribute the batter in the tray. I am so glad that you love this recipe. It’s a family favorite that I’ve been making for so many years. 🙂

      1. fatema says:

thank you! so I use the same recipe minus oreos. I places broken pieces of lotus biscoff cookies on the bottom followed by the brownie mix and topped with melted biscoff spread then bake. it’s become every1s new fav. Trying to add to my collection do you think if used the same recipe of yours bt replaced the choc chips with chopped chunks of Terry’s choc orange , would that work? or would the high sugar content mess with the recipe ?

        1. Tina says:

I have never had Terry’s choc orange but it sounds like it is worth trying. I love how you used biscoff cookies… brilliant!
