Baileys Iced Coffee

Are you more excited that Zoolander 2 is coming out next year or that St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow?  This might sound like a weird comparison but they are in fact two events that I am excited about right now.

Bailey's Iced Coffee04

Last week felt like the longest week ever.  Then in the midst of it my husband showed me the announcement that Derek and Hansel were coming back to the big screen and it totally made my week!  Yes, this means that I love Zoolander.  Should I be embarrassed that I like this movie?  I mean, it’s not exactly an award winning screenplay but I really like it.  I have to admit that I hated it the first time I watched it but I started to quote from it in conversations and laugh about it.  Like a song that gets stuck in your head, sometimes it’s best to listen to it again to help it move on its way.  I decided to watch the movie again and let’s just say I’ve watched it many more times since then.  Somewhere along the way it became one of my favorite movies for getting a good laugh.

While I’m excited about the new movie, I do have to wait a year for its release.  In the mean time, why not get excited to celebrate a holiday where everyone is Irish.  How do I celebrate?  With a cocktail, of course.  There are so many ways to pretend you are Irish.  A lot of those ways seem to involve alcohol.  And one of my favorites is Baileys Irish Cream.  They have a variety of flavors but the classic Irish cream is my favorite (my husband’s too).  We’ve tried other brands of Irish cream liquors, but Baileys tastes the best… by far.  If you have a brand you like better then go for it.

But wait, there’s more!  (I feel like an infomercial.)  I added some iced coffee to this Irish party.  This drink is similar to my Boozy Iced Mocha.  Both involve coffee, except instead of creamy chocolate you’ve got creamy Baileys going on here.  It’s so smooth and delicious.  It was just the fix I needed yesterday when I felt like everything I tried to do didn’t go my way.

Since St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow, you don’t have to wait for Friday to celebrate with drinks. In fact, it’s totally appropriate if you want to try this combo tonight.  You know, just to make sure it tastes great for tomorrow.  😉  Duh, it sure does!

As a couple of fair warnings for this drink, if you use regular coffee, you may want to avoid drinking it too late in the day.  (Zing!)  And also, if you decide to try to make this drink into a festive green version, you may not have a whole lot of luck.  The dark colors of coffee and whiskey only leaves the cream to be colored.

Here’s hoping that this week doesn’t feel long and draggy!

Man, I so should have made myself some boozy iced coffee today! My plain iced coffee seems really boring right about now.
