Best… Brownies… Ever

Welcome to my new series, the Best Ever!

Here’s the scoop…

What’s it about?   After many years of cooking and two plus years of having a food blog, I’ve come to realize that a recipe falls into one of a few categories.  One, the recipe is gross and you will never see it here because I only share the good stuff with you.  (Not mysteriously, you have no idea how many things I’ve made that fall into this category.  My husband points out that you should trust that to be a good thing.)  Two, the recipe is great and I love it at the time that I make it, but over time I tweak the recipe, find a better one, or never make it again after having blogged about it.  I’m totally entitled to change my opinion over time.  😉  Three, the recipe is awesome, I love it, everyone around me loves it, I make it over and over, and I don’t change one single thing about it… ever.  This third category is what the series is all about.

As a food blogger, I’m always trying new recipes and tweaking old ones to make them more perfect (if that’s even possible) or I’m using a good recipe as the basis for another good recipe.  I’m sure other food bloggers can relate because that’s what we do… we are always looking to share new stuff with our readers.  However, even food bloggers have certain recipes that they make over and over again because they stand the test of time.

This series of posts represents my exploration into my own blog on the quest to find the best of the best.  The things that people don’t stop asking for, and that I love making because they are just consistently amazing.  I often wonder what recipes other bloggers constantly go back to, and I figured if I wonder, maybe you do too.  This provides a window into what I make regularly when I’m not doing it for the blog.

When will it happen?  There will not be a set schedule for this series.  Basically, when I feel like I’ve got something that qualifies, you’ll hear about it here.

Here is the first recipe in the series, Best… Brownies… Ever.

My best friend and her family are visiting this Sunday and I’ve been trying to think of what to make for dessert.  I was looking for a new recipe, but couldn’t find anything that piqued my interest.

I already have ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, bananas, and an assortment of chocolate chips, nuts and sprinkles.  You know what that means?  It’s ice cream sundae time!  Sundaes are perfect 365 days a year, they are fun for kids, fun for adults, and totally perfect for a hot Memorial Day weekend.  And what’s a must have item for sundaes?  Brownies, more specifically my fudgy brownies!

Best Ever Brownies01

I’ve made these brownies for my friend and her family before… a number of times actually.  In fact, I’ve made these for practically everyone that I know, over and over again.  Why?  Because they are crazy delicious and everyone loves them.  I mean, just look at them!  Don’t you want to sink your teeth into these fudgy delights?

Best Ever Brownies07

I’ve made a ton of brownie recipes, I’ve made box mixes, I’ve changed them up to make other interesting varieties and of course I’ve shared the tasty ones with you.  However, I always prefer my precious… these fudgy ones.  I’ve been making them for almost 10 years. (10?!  Wow, I feel old.)  I’ve been obsessed with them since the first time I made them and I still am (for all the reasons that I listed in the original post, which I won’t bore you with again).  I couldn’t imagine finding a better brownie recipe… ever.

Best Ever Brownies09

This is a great base brownie recipe to add goodies to, like Oreo cookies.  Or go crazy and add some peanut butter frosting on top of them.  (My husband just made a Homer Simpson noise over that frosting…  mmm…  peanut butter frosting.)

Whip these up for some friends, a bake sale at your kid’s school, or just for yourself when you’re having a crappy day.  Perhaps do a face plant right into them watching a good chick flick, like one of my favorites, Bridget Jones Diary?  Oh you fudgy brownies, I like you very much, just the way you are.

I’m not one to try to convince you of anything… for the most part.  😉  However, I’m really passionate about these brownies.  I mean I’m giving them the spotlight twice!  These are the real deal brownies.  I know that once you’ve made them you’ll find these are your go-to brownie recipe too.  Alright, so have I convinced you yet that these are the best brownies ever?  If yes, then click here for the recipe.
