Stuff I’m Into: Getting Summer Ready

Memorial Day is right around the corner and that means the unofficial start of Summer is almost here.  I’m getting anxious for Summer since it’s been a cool Spring.

Here’s how I’m getting ready for Summer:

Summer Foods.  Bye, bye heavy comfort foods and hello, fresh fruits and veggies.  I especially can’t wait for corn on the cob to make an appearance at the grocery store.  It’s one of my favorites so I apologize in advance if I make a ton of recipes with corn in them.  This corn guacamole is one of my favorite appetizers and would be a great addition to any Memorial Day BBQ (just saying  😉 ).  We can’t say sayonara to all comfort foods.  Pizza is a great way to take advantage of all the summertime veggies.  Mmm veggie pizza.  Let’s not forget dessert.  These lemon bars are a perfect way to enjoy a light and fruity sweet.

Summer Style.  I did some major Spring cleaning in my closets a few weeks ago.  Now I know what I need for the new season (and even if I don’t need it I’ve made room for some new stuff).

Swimwear.  I wanted a new swimsuit to add to my collection since we’ll be pool or beach side for a few of our vacations this year.  I bought this swimsuit in black and this cover up.  My husband said that the cover up is very retro looking.  I suppose it is.  All I know is that I fell in love with the fun print.

Sandals.  I wanted to update my sandal wardrobe with a lace up version because that’s a huge trend this summer so I bought these Ivanka Trump wedges in brown.  They are very comfortable and go with so many things.

The perfect T-shirt.  I’m on the hunt for the perfect t-shirt.  You know, the one you wear all the time because it’s so soft and comfy.  Any suggestions?

Summer Beauty.  I don’t tend to change my make up too much for hotter weather.  I might wear a darker shade of concealer or foundation, but otherwise that’s about it.  The one big change I make is that I use a bronzing powder.  I’ve already started using Benefit Cosmetics’ Holla bronzing powder.  I love it because it’s a matte color powder.  I love sparkles but not on my face.

I don’t like to sit out in the sun to tan because it’s not good for your skin.  Plus, who has that kind of time?  I use a self tanner so that I’m not paste-y white.  I’m super picky with them so I’ve tried a number of them over the years.  Vita Liberata bronzing mousse is the best one I’ve tried.  First (and most important), it looks natural.  It lasts longer than any other one I’ve tried.  It dries fast and doesn’t stain my clothes.  Plus it has very, very little smell.  I say that because you really can’t smell it unless you put your nose up to your skin (or if you’re my husband and you have a strong sense of smell, seriously he can pick out literally any lotion as one that has tanning because his nose just knows some random ingredient they all have).

Pineapples.  I have this thing for pineapples so my cell is sportin’ my love of them with this case.

What are you doing to get ready for Summer?  Ciao!
