Fall Charcuterie Board

Char… what? Shar-koo-ter-ee. I’m embarrassed to say that I can never quite say this term correctly. You can ask my husband to confirm that I’ve probably tried at least 7 different made up words for it. Thankfully he always knows what I’m talking about. I thought if I write out the pronunciation then maybe I’ll finally be able to say it correctly.

Charcuterie is a French term for a type of cooking that specializes in prepared meat products. So a charcuterie board is board filled with meats and other fun goodies that go along with them. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but charcuterie boards are super popular lately and I’m all for it. They make a great appetizer for entertaining. Easy to put together, countless assortments of ingredients and layouts, they look beautiful, and most of the things on them tend to be small easy things to grab and go that keep guests happy.

Do you remember when I mentioned the other day that I wanted to put together an Oktoberfest inspired board? Well that’s what I’ve got here. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, especially October, so I wanted to celebrate it as much as possible. My husband and I arranged a small charcuterie board for just the two of us and I have to say that I think this is the perfect way to celebrate the season.

We’ve got some mini sautéed hot dogs, homemade soft pretzels, homemade cheese beer dip, mustard, Havarti dill cheese, crackers, sliced apples, and grapes. Keeping with a fall/Oktoberfest theme, the charcuterie board is accompanied by some beer.

Of course this is just one idea of how to put together a Fall food board. You can certainly use whatever foods that you love this time of the year (or any other time of the year). Have fun with it!
