Pear Bavarian Torte

When I host dinner parties, I love to serve desserts that impress my guests.  You know, the ones that get all the “oohs and aahs” when you present them.  Then the moment of awe is followed up with silence because everyone has their mouths full.   This torte meets both criteria perfectly by being both beautiful and delicious. This pear Bavarian torte is part shortbread, part cheesecake, part pear pie, and all addicting. Pear Bavarian Torte Recipe (About 12 servings) Ingredients for the Crust: 1/2 stick (equivalent to 1 stick) butter 1/3 cup white sugar 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup …

Pasta Puttanesca

I love Italian food so it wasn’t a surprise when I was craving it the other day.  Mmm, carbs.  Sorry, I got distracted.     😉  I didn’t have the time to make my Marinara Sauce so I decided to try a quicker recipe.  In fact, I tried a completely different kind of sauce.  Little did I know that I’d be taking a trip down memory lane when I decided to make this pasta dish.  I’ll explain. Spaghetti Squash With Mushrooms

I don’t like grocery shopping, like at all.  People seem to lollygag while I’m on a mission.  Road rage in the grocery store aisles?  Maybe.  Plus, it never fails that I always have at least one ingredient on my list that I can’t find or the store randomly decides to not stock. After a long week last week, I avoided the dreaded grocery store . While I was happy to skip it, I quickly regretted it as soon as I tried to make dinner.  Cereal for dinner it is.  Don’t judge me.     😉  Cereal wasn’t going to cut it …

Light Chocolate Chip Muffins

I love muffins, I love chocolate, and I love chocolate for breakfast.  If you’ve seen some of my recipes then this is not  a shocker.  A few weeks ago I challenged myself to try to make more healthy recipes, especially baked goodies.  My quest started with some awesome Light Chocolate Chip Cookies. A couple of weeks ago, someone left me a lovely comment about the High Domed Chocolate Chip Muffins that I made last year.  That got me in the mood to make them again, but instead I put my thinking cap on.  Wouldn’t it be great to continue on my personal quest by making a …

Pasta With Kale Sauce

Does green colored food get a bad rap?  Split pea soup, spinach pasta, green smoothies, guacamole, green colored cakes and cookies…  All are delightful foods, but they rarely look appetizing, especially in photos.  I will admit that I was finicky about the amount of green-ness going on when I created the Double Mint Cookie Bar, so maybe my problem is with green sweets?   It’s not easy being green.     😉  Whatever my hang up is, I apparently don’t have an issue with green savory dishes. There are tons of green colored savory foods that I love and this pasta coated …
