Waffles

My husband is not a stranger to making breakfast for me.  However it seemed extra special when he made these waffles for me on Valentine’s Day. Typically when my husband makes waffles he uses Bisquick and a couple of other ingredients. When he reached for the Bisquick he realized we were out.  Now what?  Honestly, a bagel would have been just fine with me.  However, he was not willing to admit defeat so he turned to Google and found this recipe. I’m glad we ran out of Bisquick because these are the best waffles he’s ever made.  In fact, after my …

Black and White Heart Sugar Cookies

Have you made your quintessential heart shaped cookies for Valentine’s Day? I surprised myself by wanting to make cut-out cookies because I tend to avoid making them.  I’m a perfectionist so the process of rolling and cutting cookie dough is daunting to me.  That’s a nice way of saying that I get easily frustrated when I don’t roll out the dough to be the same exact thickness for every single cut-out and I usually throw a temper tantrum for trying over and over again to get it right.  Unfortunately my husband has been a witness to those very events in the past so for both …

Roasted Cauliflower and Pasta

I have Spring fever!  Who else is with me?  If you live in a warm area, I’m super jealous because Spring isn’t showing any signs of arriving where I live. The stores are in full swing with their pastel and floral lines, even including bathing suites (but let’s not go there right now) and it’s got me anxious to get my Spring fashion groove on.  However, I can’t exactly wear a light weight mint colored blouse when it’s 21 degrees F.  Dang, that’s cold. I’m also craving Spring-y foods, like fresh herbs, fruits, and veggies (which are hard to come by in CT at this time …

French Fry Salad

I had my youngest sister in mind when I created this salad. One day my sister and I had a conversation about salads.  I have no idea how we even got on the topic.  Anyway, we said that everyone knows that a salad is supposed to be healthy.  Therefore we concluded that you could put whatever you wanted on it and the entire plate of food would still all healthy.  Let’s add ice cream, doughnuts, and cookies!  Yes, in our minds, if it’s on a bed of lettuce, all that junk food instantly becomes healthy.  😉  Unfortunately, we both know that’s not …

Cherry and White Chocolate Chip Cookies

Who likes to make holiday themed goodies?  I do. I’m sad that the Christmas season has passed because that means that I don’t have an excuse to make dozens and dozens of cookies.  Hmm…  or do I?  I have a cool idea.  Valentine’s Day is a holiday, and it’s even still cold out so the hot oven won’t make the kitchen unnecessarily warm, and it’s even right around the corner! I just bought this sweet heart printed blouse, these cute heart pajamas, and I painted my finger nails with red polish with gold sparkles.  It’s not that far fetched that I’m …
