Sweet Almond Pastry

It was my dad’s birthday last week and I wanted to make something for him to celebrate the occasion.  He’s a breakfast kinda guy, especially breakfast baked goodies.  He’s also a huge fan of anything almond-y.  Do you remember my Almond Biscotti?  I made those with him in mind.  I’ve combined the best of both worlds and made him this sweet almond pastry. I have a special guy in mind that will absolutely adore this tart, and that’s my awesome dad. He’s the best dad in the world and he deserves the best breakfast in honor of him.   …

This breakfast cake is a delicious vanilla based cake loaded with sweet pockets of poppy seed filling and topped with a streusel.
