Olive Salad

Is it a cliche to post a salad recipe on a Monday?  You know, because many of us go into detox mode on Mondays in order to try to reverse the food bingeing you did over the weekend.  No, not you?  Jealous. Salads…  You probably don’t turn to a recipe when you want one.  If you’re like me then you search your fridge to see what you have and then you throw a bunch of stuff on top of lettuce and call it a salad.  Except today’s salad was totally planned.  See, I love olives.  I suppose it’s in my nature, being …

Genuine Greek Salad

What do you cook when it’s hot and super humid out and you’re lazy?  I eat a bowl of cereal or whip up a quick salad. I’m pretty sure a blog post about how to make a bowl of cereal wouldn’t go over very well, so I figure a salad recipe is a better thing to share with you.  By the way, in case you’re curious, I’m into Grape-Nuts cereal lately (still not going to tell you how to put milk in the bowl though).  😉 The other day my husband and I had a conversation about Greek salads.  When we went to …

Corn Guacamole

This is my first time making guacamole.  Holy guacamole…  I bet that’s the first time you’ve ever heard that one.  😉 I buy plenty of avocados.  I patiently wait for them to ripen.  (Patiently…  lol…  I’m funny.)  Then I cut them open and… eat them immediately with a little salt and pepper.  Yup, the simple truth is that we can never keep them around long enough for me to do anything fun with them.  Can you blame me?  Avocado, salt, and pepper…  it’s so silly simple but so darn delicious. Well, that ends right here, right now.  I’m turning yummy avocado …

Grilled Ham And Brie

Have you ever tried to recreate a meal that you enjoyed at a restaurant?  That’s what I did today.  Except in this case it was a meal my husband loved. Let me set the scene.  Montreal, Canada in 2011.  My husband and I were starving and choosing a place for lunch felt like an impossible mission.  We were on a street with literally a dozen places to eat and we found ourselves utterly unable to decide.  We finally chose this little cafe (in the photo below).  My husband thought he was ordering an ordinary ham and cheese sandwich, but it turned out to be …

Holiday Pinwheels

Does anyone go a little crazy when they host a dinner party?  And when I say “crazy” I don’t mean losing your marbles.  I mean you’re running around the house doing 17 things at one time in fast forward motion. This time of the year, my husband and I host many dinner parties.  I’ve been doing it for years, even before I met him.  You’d think that over the years I’d relax a little more about these things.  After all it’s always family and friends.  Nope.  I never think I have enough time to fit in everything I want to …
