Apple Pie for Two

Who likes cute little pies? That’s sort of a rhetorical question because I assume that everyone says “me.” I have had an ongoing effort all year to create mini portions of some of our favorite desserts (and meals). I make my mother-in-law’s apple pie every year (and sometimes more than once) because it’s pretty much the best out there. Even though we are not visiting with family and friends this holiday season, I was not going to let this year be the year without apple pie. Pretty sure my husband wouldn’t have let it go that far anyway. I give …

Pumpkin Pie for Two

This Thanksgiving looks different for us. It will be a quiet weekend for two instead of a hectic (but wonderful) weekend visiting families. Even if we can’t be together with our families, we will stay connected through the recipes that came from our loved ones (and of course video chat). I told my husband that I didn’t care what we ate for Thanksgiving dinner. Seriously, mac and cheese and chicken nuggets would do. However, we had to have my mother-in-law’s pumpkin pie for dessert because it is probably my favorite pie ever. A normal size pie is just way too …

Small Pie Crust

Who’s baking pies this weekend? If you raised your (virtual) hand, then I’m with you. I never thought that I’d be interested in making a pie that serves only two people, but that’s changed. When it’s just me and my husband, a small pie is the perfect dessert for 2. I’ve been making my mother-in-law’s pie crust recipe for over 12 years and it’s never failed me. I love it so much that I simply cut it in half to accommodate the smaller version that I’m sharing today. You only need four ingredients and I promise you it’s super simple …

Blueberry Pie for Two

Every summer I make blueberry pie and this year it’s slightly different. Usually I make blueberry pie in the summer and bring it over to a friend or family’s home to enjoy. This way we get to enjoy some delicious pie and leave the leftovers with loved ones. It’s a win win. We’ve been staying home lately because of what’s going on in the world today but I knew that we couldn’t miss out on our annual blueberry pie tradition (especially since my husband has been asking for it for weeks). We love pie too much to have a normal …

Pumpkin Pie – Redux

Greetings! Is anyone still in a food coma from Thanksgiving weekend? Are you sick of seeing pie yet? I hope not, because I’m super excited to talk about pumpkin pie today. (If you are sick of pie, then try to remember this post for next year.) I originally shared this pumpkin pie recipe with you back in 2013 (almost on the exact same day of that year). I’ve been making this pie every Thanksgiving (sometimes more than once a season) ever since my mother in law gave me the recipe. Needless to say, I could probably make it with my …
