Roasted Broccoli And Parmesan Polenta Bites

I’m super excited to bring you this broccoli dish.  Wow, that’s not something you hear often, especially from me. Okay, how do I explain this…  I like broccoli, but I don’t tend to eat it much because I don’t like what it does to my tummy (putting it delicately).  For some reason unbeknownst to me, I decided to ignore my aversion to this green veggie and create this appetizer.  I’m so glad I did because these bites are my favorite way to eat broccoli now. I love all of the textures going on here.  The crunch of the toasted bread and the roasted broccoli combines …

Apple Cake

If you’re looking for a Fall time dessert to impress someone then this is it.  Not only is it one of the best apple desserts that I’ve ever had, it’s also one of the prettiest! This cake is loaded with apples (duh, it’s called apple cake).  I guess what I mean to say is that you definitely know that you’re eating apple cake because every bite is loaded with pieces of apple.  Some apple cakes only sort of taste like apples or the spices that would go in an apple pie.  This one is actually loaded with real live apples. Didn’t …

Butternut Squash, Kale And Sausage

How do you get someone to eat something that they don’t like?  Combine that item with food that they DO like. I think you’re either from the school of “I live for kale” or “I can’t stand the stuff.”  My husband blows that theory by being somewhere in the middle.  He’ll eat it, but he definitely won’t seek it out on purpose.  He does however love butternut squash and sausage (even turkey sausage, like I used here).  Was I being sneaky by throwing some kale into the combo?  Not especially.  Frankly it’s a pretty bright green which makes it hard …

All Things Fall

As soon as the weather turns cool and crisp in September I decorate my home to welcome autumn, my favorite time of year.  Not only do I love pumpkin goodies like my Pumpkin Bread, I also love to use them as decorations throughout my home.  Well, you’ll see. How gorgeous is this antique candelabra?  A family member gave it to me a few months ago and I adore it. I like to mix the old with new.  I bought these mercury pumpkins at Pottery Barn.  (I might be slightly addicted to that store and my husband points out that I’m probably also addicted to …

Oreo Brownies

Everyone can make brownies.  It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert baker or if you’re on a budget, you can find a brownie recipe that works for you.  (Or buy a box mix for cheap if you aren’t feeling making it from scratch, but that’s not what this post is about.)  Brownies unite us!  What, too dramatic? I’m partial to my Fudgy Brownies that I’ve been making for years.  They are quick and easy to whip up.  If you’re a beginner baker then it is a great recipe for you.  Plus, there’s a reason why I’ve made them a trillion times and I continue to make …
