I’m funny sometimes. I had no problem spending $100 on a new pair of heels the other day, but I didn’t want to spend $9 on a doughnut pan. I guess I have my priorities. 😉 I’ve seen so many wonderful doughnut recipes out there and I finally broke down and bought a doughnut pan so I could join in on the fun of creating my own doughnut flavor. Today marks the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness month. In November 2011 my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today she is cancer free. A routine mammogram and sonogram saved her life. I don’t like to preach so I won’t sit here and lecture you to get a mammogram (if you are a woman of age eligible to receive one), but please keep my friend’s story in mind. When I was a kid, my sisters and I were allowed to pick whatever we wanted to eat for dinner on our birthday. This became known in our house as the “birthday dinner.” As a kid, this made us feel special because that meant we were in charge of household decision. Who is intimidated to work with yeast? Hello out there? I know that I’m not the only one. It’s temperamental and I since I don’t have experience working with it, I’d second guess every step of the recipe. Fall is my favorite season for many reasons! I was married in October and in fact we’ll be celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary next month.
