I’m funny sometimes. I had no problem spending $100 on a new pair of heels the other day, but I didn’t want to spend $9 on a doughnut pan. I guess I have my priorities. 😉 I’ve seen so many wonderful doughnut recipes out there and I finally broke down and bought a doughnut pan so I could join in on the fun of creating my own doughnut flavor. Since these doughnuts are the first ones I’ve made, I wanted them to be memorable. I think I nailed it with these German chocolate cake doughnuts. 🙂 These doughnuts reflect the traditional flavors of a …

Pink Fashion Trend: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Today marks the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness month. In November 2011 my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today she is cancer free. A routine mammogram and sonogram saved her life. I don’t like to preach so I won’t sit here and lecture you to get a mammogram (if you are a woman of age eligible to receive one), but please keep my friend’s story in mind. In honor of my friend and to all those who have been affected by breast cancer, I’ve found some awesome pink fashion trends to commemorate this month. Have you ever heard …
Hamburger Pie
When I was a kid, my sisters and I were allowed to pick whatever we wanted to eat for dinner on our birthday. This became known in our house as the “birthday dinner.” As a kid, this made us feel special because that meant we were in charge of household decision. Every birthday (or nearly most of them) I’d pick this hamburger pie dish. It’s like fancy cheeseburger in a pie dish (or heaven on a dinner plate, however you want to look at it). Well, to a kid it was fancy anyway. Hamburger Pie Recipe (About 4 servings) Ingredients: …
Beer Bread
Who is intimidated to work with yeast? Hello out there? I know that I’m not the only one. It’s temperamental and I since I don’t have experience working with it, I’d second guess every step of the recipe. Perhaps I’m not inclined to experiment with it since I have a husband who loves to make bread (and he’s awesome at it). He actually likes that it’s a bit of an art to judge what is going on biologically when making bread. Go figure. Whether we are a hosting a dinner party or want to make homemade pizza for two, it’s a no brainer that my husband …
Fall In Love With Fall
Fall is my favorite season for many reasons! I was married in October and in fact we’ll be celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary next month. We’re going to Quebec City for a long weekend and I cannot wait! 🙂 I love the weather this time of year. When else can I wear a t-shirt with a scarf? 😉 I adore the Fall/Winter fashion trends, like blazers and sweaters. I’ve started to pull some pieces from the back of my closet that I haven’t seen since I bought them on clearance last year. It’s like I’m going shopping in my closet. My favorite …
