Chocolate Crumb Cake

Oh yea, two of my favorite things combined into one fabulous dish, chocolate and crumb topping!  How can you go wrong…you simply can’t.  🙂 My Perfect Crumb Cake came out so amazing so I wanted to experiment with how I could incorporate chocolate into that traditional crumb cake recipe.  This chocolate crumb cake came out a-maze-ing!  Can you picture me singing that to you?  Hopefully not because I’m not the greatest singer.  Lol.  The chocolate cake layer is dense, moist, and rich and it’s covered with a layer of cinnamon and sugary crumb topping and miniature chocolate chips.  If you’re saying “oh my!” then you’d …

Baking Cookies 101

I love baking, especially cookies.  I’m known for making dozens of different cookies at Christmas time.  I’ve learned so much over the years, especially on my recent quest to find the Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie (which I feel I did).  All this research and practice means I have a lot to say about baking cookies, and specifically chocolate chip cookies.  Maybe I should have called this post “The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie: Part 2” because it goes hand in hand with the recipe, but it would have been a crazy long post.  If you are only interested in the recipe then feel free …

The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie

Everyone has a version of their favorite chocolate chip cookie, whether it be soft or crisp, thick or thin, loaded with a lot of chocolate or barely chocolaty at all.  I don’t often call something “perfect” because it’s subjective.  Even my husband, who loved these, doesn’t describe them as perfect.  However, take a look at these ginormous, soft, and thick cookies filled with miniature chocolate chips.  It’s hard to argue that these are not perfect.       If you’re familiar with the restaurant chain, Panera Bread, these cookies are an awesome copycat to their Chocolate Chipper Cookie. Talking about them isn’t going …

Oreo Cheesecake Bars

I have a lot of fun finding inspiration from my fellow bloggers.  My friend, Gloria from Simply Gloria, recently made two kinds of desserts using Oreo cookies (Snickers Oreo Caramel Bars and Oreo Pudding Cookies).  They both look amazing and you should check them out, along with many of her other great ideas. Since seeing those Oreo desserts I’ve been itching to bake with Oreo cookies.  Plus I have been in the mood for cheesecake.  The perfect solution to both was to combine the ideas and create Oreo cheesecake bars.  These bars are a classic cheesecake loaded with chunks of Oreo cookies on …

Hawaiian Tea Cookies

We were invited to our neighbor’s luau themed BBQ.   She asked us to bring our favorite appetizer.  I instantly thought of cookies.  That’s an appetizer, right? The first cookie that came to mind to match the luau theme were these Hawaiian tea cookies.  I had never heard of these cookies until my husband told me about them a few years ago.  They are his favorite cookie. These cookies are like sugar cookies filled with shredded coconut.  That’s what makes them Hawaiian I figure.  All I know is if you love buttery cookies and coconut then you’ll fall in love with these cookies. …
