Why does a three day weekend seem to go by just as fast as a normal two day weekend? Perhaps time really does fly by when you’re having fun or maybe it flies by when you’re busy or maybe it flies by when you’re not at work. (My husband points out that having fun may be defined as simply not being at work.) I’m going to try not to obsess over these chocolate chip cookie bars. Well, it’s a plan anyway. I made these chocolate chip cookie bars for my best friend’s son’s 1st birthday party last weekend. I was crazy about them from the moment they came out of the oven. I was so anxious to cut into them. Tomorrow marks five months to Christmas. Crazy talk, right? I watched a week of Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel (their Christmas in July celebration). The stores are bringing out their Fall collections and the fashion bloggers are already showing off their Fall fashion trends. So I guess you could say that all that has put me in the mood for baking cookies, my typical Christmastime activity. Plus, I had to make cookies for my annual family trip to Lake George, NY. Vanilla Butter Cookies

What better way to say thank you to someone than with cookies and coffee? The other day I mentioned to you that my best friend and her family were coming up for a visit and that my parents were also coming over at some point to help build some shelves for my shoe closet. Well, things didn’t go exactly as I had planned. (I can hear my husband say that that’s why I shouldn’t plan so much.) My friend’s daughter came down with the flu so we postponed their visit.
