Italian Meat Grilled Cheese

How many of you need a Thanksgiving detox, like I do?  Just to avoid being misleading, this delicious sandwich isn’t going to work for that.  Oh well. I love the traditional Thanksgiving foods.  I really do.  But right now I don’t want to have anything to do with them.  After two big family dinners on Thursday and Friday, I’m ready to move on to healthier pastures.  Although I was singing a different tune the other night when I enjoyed some of my mother-in-law’s leftover pumpkin pie. Truth be told, today’s lunch will probably involve lettuce or yogurt or anything that resembles rabbit food.  These …

Apple Pie

Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, I realize that you’re probably out shopping on this Black Friday.  (Kudos to you if you got up early.  I have a date with my pillow.)  I also know that you may be sick of Thanksgiving foods.  But really, who could ever get tired of pie?!  Not me, yo.  So I declare the day after Thanksgiving to be Pie Friday. It’s candy season. Cookies are really my thing this time of the year and as you know I’ve been in full on cookie baking made for the past few weeks.  I wouldn’t say that I’m tired of making them (or eating them), but let’s just say that I felt the need to switch things up a bit.  Of course candy came to mind because we all know the holidays are also about the candy canes and chocolate shaped holiday characters.  No, I’m not making either of those.  I’m a newbie when it comes to candy making so let’s go easy, okay? Eggnog Latte

I have one word for you.  Eggnog. Yes, I’m going there… already.  A couple of weeks ago I was standing on line at Starbucks and saw that they have an eggnog latte on their menu.  I’ve made an Eggnog Frappuccino before… which is to die for, but I’d never made a hot version until now.  After seeing how easy it was to make a pumpkin spice latte at home, I knew that I had to give the eggnog version a try. Do you recognize the glass of eggnog?  It’s from my favorite Christmas movie that I must watch every year. …

Chocolate Pecan Bars

If you bake one thing for the holidays it MUST be these bars. Seriously guys, these bars are freaking amazing.  You should make these for Thanksgiving dessert next week.  You know, because it’s the holiday where  you fill up a huge table full of everything that you could possibly make.  (Holy crap I can’t believe next week is Thanksgiving.) These bars have a shortbread crust which is topped with gooey pecan goodness.  Oh oh, aaannd, these bars have chocolate in the pecan layer!  How can you go wrong with that? The below shot is what it looks like in all …
