Pink Fashion Trend: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Today marks the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  In November 2011 my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Today she is cancer free.  A routine mammogram and sonogram saved her life.  I don’t like to preach so I won’t sit here and lecture you to get a mammogram (if you are a woman of age eligible to receive one), but please keep my friend’s story in mind.

In honor of my friend and to all those who have been affected by breast cancer, I’ve found some awesome pink fashion trends to commemorate this month.

Have you ever heard of the phrase “I’ll stop wearing black when you come out with a darker color”?  Well, that’s me.  About 85% of my wardrobe is black.  You won’t likely see me in a pink dress unless some bridezilla has decided to stick me with a pink bridesmaids dress.  However, all of the options below are some of my favorite pink fashion trends and I would totally rock them (but not all at one time of course, that would be a bit of a pinksplosion).

This is my favorite nail polish color and a perfect touch of pink!

Essie Ballet Slippers

Nail Polish

I need these shoes!  They would be a great pop of color to pair with a black dress.

I love adding a splash of color with a classic scarf.

A cardigan sweater is a must in anyone’s wardrobe and I would wear it exactly how it’s shown below.

Statement necklaces are one of the hottest trends this season.

Pink work out clothes are fun.

This pink skirt is fun!  I’d wear it with a white button down top, black tights, and black boots.

A special shout out to my bestie!  Love you! xoxo

      You rock!

  2. I love this post, Tina! I had to have my very first mammogram when I was 23…and pregnant. Back then (17 yrs ago), they were ignoring me to get my breasts checked bcz I was TOO young. Hey, I always say if you’ve got boobies…then you can still get lumps! Mine ended up being benign back then. But, it is sadly so, so, so, common to know someone personally with breast cancer. I love this month. Thank you for sharing all of this, Tina!
    Loves!!

I’m so sorry you had to go through that experience (especially while you were pregnant!), but thank goodness it was benign. I hope one day we find a cure!
