Home Bar Decor

Do you remember when I used to post about home decor?  I haven’t done that in ages so I understand if you don’t.  I’ve been so focused with food lately (because hello, food is awesome) that I’ve completely ignored my love of styling my home.  I was inspired by my Gin And Tonic post from the other day to show you how I’ve designed a bar area in my dining room.

Here are a few general thoughts that I had in mind when I styled this bar area:

  1. Keep it simple and uncluttered.
  2. Show the favorite liquors that have pretty bottles (it’s styling so of course it has to be pretty).
  3. Coordinate the liquor with the accompanying glassware.
  4. Knick knacks add flavor to any drink.

Hmm, I guess we need to buy more Johnnie Walker Black Label Blended Scotch Whiskey.  That’s my dad’s favorite.  (My husband just pointed out that we actually have a whole spare bottle ready to go.  That would probably have been good information before I took the pictures.)

My grandmother gave us the decanter and matching glasses.

How cute is this dainty candy dish?  I filled it with glass faux candies so I could avoid eating them.  An empty candy dish isn’t as much fun and please don’t eat the fake ones.     😉

Ah, my favorite part of the bar!  I keep the Tanqueray bottle in the fridge since that’s my go-to liquor and keeping it cold helps slow down how quickly the drink gets watered down by melting ice.

These Lenox Goblets are part of a set (along with the matching beverage glasses) and were a wedding gift from my grandmother.  I will treasure them forever.

My husband and I are not big drinkers but when we entertain we like to make sure that we have what people love, so we have a much bigger stash behind closed doors.  Remember rule #1?  I personally don’t like cutter.  This is simple chic bar styling, if you ask me.     🙂

You can style a bar area on any budget.  Have fun with it but don’t actually put your knick knacks into anyone’s drink.

  1. Beautiful pictures! The one of the Johnny Walker is my favorite, even if it is nearly empty. I too don’t like clutter and have lots of bottle hidden in the cabinet for guests 😀

Thank you so much, Cindy! 🙂

I love this! We’ve been wanting to get some kind of table to put our bar stuff on … I haven’t found anything right just yet but I’m coming back to this when I do!

  3. Love this post! We also have a little bar but it is inside a Chinese cabinet with roll out drawers. Hidden and out of view to also keep the clutter thing under control…

    1. Tina says:

      Glad you like. 🙂

  4. Very cool! We are working on decorating our new house right now… love it. So much fun!

    1. Tina says:

      Thanks!!

  5. What a beautiful idea. I’ve always wanted some old style cut glass crystal, something about it that makes a bar bling up just right. Think it’s time to dust off my old wine bar cabinet.

    1. Tina says:

      Thanks Anna! Dust away. 😉
