Our Home for Christmas

I love decorating our home for Christmas.  Every year I do things slightly differently.  You may recognize some of the decorations from last year or the year before, but I also bought some new things from Michael’s store and Pottery Barn. This year I went with a mostly white wintry theme. I arranged some faux branches to make this arrangement.  It took me three attempts before I was sort of happy with it.  You can’t really tell from the photo but it’s got sparkles on the leaves.  Pretty much everything I bought has glitter on it so needless to say I …

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

No Christmas is complete without crinkled cookies. Can you believe this is the first year that I’ve ever made a crinkle cookie?  I’m stunned.  I’ve made about a bazillion cookies and the crinkly ones never seemed to make the cut.  I’ve been missing out.  No mas. First of all these cookies are mad easy to make.  I don’t know about you but I could do with a little easy in my life, especially this time of the year and also especially when I’ve been making more complicated cookies. These are beautifully covered in my precious (aka powdered sugar) so of …

Home for the Holidays

Are you gearing up for the holidays?  I’ve been busy baking cookies (tons and tons), but I thought I’d pause for a moment to share what it looks like in our home for Christmas.  Some decorations are new and some are from last Christmas (or past years). Last year I shared a list of some of my favorite things that I can’t live without in the kitchen.  This year I thought I’d share a list of great gift ideas, outside the kitchen arena.  Grab some coffee… are you ready? For the homebody.  My parents used to buy me slippers every year for Christmas.  Then about two years ago my husband bought me these Ugg Australia slippers.  I wear them all year long.  Seriously, even if it’s 90 degrees out, I’m still sporting them in the house.  They are a bit pricey for slippers, but they are mad comfy and …

A Tina’s Chic Christmas

Christmas starts early in our home.  It’s tradition for us to get our tree on the weekend immediately after Thanksgiving.  My husband strings the lights on the tree and I decorate it with the ornaments.  Don’t you love my husband’s game ornaments next to elegant ones?  😉 It takes me most of the day to decorate the tree.  Every ornament has its spot.  I’m kinda finicky that way.  Which now that I think of it, may be why my husband doesn’t want to help. We host lots of holiday dinner parties.  It’s our thing.  This year I used red accents for the dinner …
