Spicy Sweet Potato Fries With Cucumber Yogurt Dip

Holiday weight gain is evil.  Who’s with me?  I try to avoid having “bad food” in the house, but that’s kind of hard to do if you’re a food blogger and enjoy baking.  It’s even harder to do when friends and family are coming over and expect great food.  So I’ve resorted to moving the jar of Nutella and the bag of mini marshmallows to the top shelf and I can only reach them if I move a chair over to the kitchen cabinet.  I have loads of chocolate chips in a nifty glass container on the kitchen counter and …

Sweet Basil Smoothie

Have you jumped on the green smoothie bandwagon?  You know, the ones with spinach or kale  or wheat grass in them.  I don’t find them appealing…like, at all.  Have you ever thought of a basil smoothie?  Now that’s a green smoothie I’m all over! Peanut Butter Chocolate Poppers

What do you call desserts that act like cookies but don’t look like cookies?  I’m totally serious, this is not a trick question.  These bite sized treats that I made have a ball shape, but I don’t want to call them balls because it sounds funny.  They don’t look like cookies so I have issues calling them that too.  I think I’ll stick with calling them poppers, like I did for my Almond Cranberry Granola Poppers.     🙂 These no-bake poppers are full of peanut butter, chocolate, and oat goodness. Peanut Butter Chocolate Poppers Recipe (Makes about 33 poppers) Ingredients: 2 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup skim milk 2/3 cup white …

Italian Bread

This is the first bread post by my husband.  He jokingly referred to this as Dave’s Bread Corner, but admitted that he wasn’t really interested in making his own “wing” on my blog.  What this means to you is that bread with yeast and other things that could make it scary to make or otherwise super complicated are now possible.  In other words, you guys get a different variety of recipes that fall outside my comfort zone, my husband gets an audience and an excuse to make bread, and I get “free” posts that I didn’t have to cook (although …

Jalapeno And Sweet Corn Hummus

Hummus.  It’s just about the best “dip” out there.  It’s one of my favorite appetizers to serve at a dinner party for a couple of reasons.  First, it’s tasty (duh, it’s hummus).  Second, I make it the day before and it’s one less thing I have to think about as I’m running around the day of the party.  While my husband and I still find the Easy Hummus to be the best one going so far, I’m always looking for ways to switch it up. This hummus takes a traditional hummus recipe and turns it into a sweet and spicy one. …
