Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

It’s soup season.  You know, cold out and stuff. If you’re suffering from a post holiday food coma and you’re tired of being in the kitchen like I am then this bean soup couldn’t come at a better time.  This soup is a great way to get back on track for healthy eating because it’s made of beans and veggies.  That’s all healthy stuff all the time. You cook this soup in a slow cooker.  I’m not really drawn to slow cooker recipes because I don’t mind cooking soup on the stove.  Oh, plus, I don’t like to leave the house when the crock pot is on.  …

Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup (Redux)

It’s not easy being green. It’s also not easy taking pictures of green things, but here I am taking photos of a pea soup… again.  This recipe was one of my first ever posts back in March 2013.  How has it been almost four years that I’ve had this blog?!  Crazy talk. In the past I’ve re-posted recipes by highlighting them in my Best Ever series or if I came up with a way to improve the recipe.  Today is a little different.  I’m posting this recipe again because… well, because I want to.  🙂  In all seriousness, it’s because this …

Soup Roundup

I’ve never posted a recipe roundup before.  I figure if you are looking for a specific recipe then you’d simply search my recipe index.  The other day I realized that I haven’t been making any soup this season.  That got me thinking.  You guys might like to see a “one stop shop” (so to speak) of the best soups I’ve shared in the past.  Of course feel free to look over my complete recipe index of soups too. So without further ado…. Here are my top 7 favorite soups (in no particular order). Pasta Fagiloi Soup 2.  White Bean and Pasta …

Spicy Black Bean Soup

My husband says that a good spicy soup is perfect this time of year to warm the cockles.  (Does anyone else think that “cockles” is a weird word?) He inspired me to whip up this amazing soup.  It’s a Mexican side dish turned into a bowl of soupy goodness.  If you’re a fan of Mexican food then this is right up your alley. This pot of soup has one teaspoon of cayenne pepper in it so it’s safe to say that it’s pretty spicy.  It’s spicy enough to warm those cockles and to leave a little tingling sensation on your lips, …

Sausage And Tortellini Soup

Did you watch the playoffs yesterday?  Both games were awesome (seriously, they won it in overtime!?), but especially the one where the Patriots won because my husband and I are fans! I won’t bore you with football talk.  You may not be into it.  Quite frankly, as much as I love watching it, I’m not entirely familiar with all the game lingo so I won’t be trying to impress you.  😉  Right now, I’d actually rather talk about soup… a topic I’m WAY more familiar with. The tortellini totally makes this soup.  How could it not?  Hello, it’s tortellini.  I …
