It’s very important to me to take care of my skin, especially in the winter time. Winters in CT can be cold and dry so scrubs and moisturizers become my best friends.
Here is a list of my winter beauty items. You may recognize a few of them from previous posts (and maybe even previous years).
Let’s start with the lips. I mentioned recently that I just started using Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1. I love this stuff. On some days moisturize is not enough so I use Bliss Fabulips Sugar Scrub. I’ve been using this lip scrub for over two years so needless to say I love that too.
I use a variety of products on my face, depending on the day (and the condition of my skin). First and foremost, I use a Clarisonic face brush almost every day, 365 days a year. I wouldn’t even consider showing you a picture of it because it’s the original model and it’s about 10 years old. Let’s just say it’s not the best to look at. Let me tell you, I swear by that face brush. It gets helps to minimize the dry skin and it really cleans out your pores. If you’re debating on whether to make the investment, I highly recommend it.
Some days I use Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. The microbeads are tiny and it’s very gentle on the skin. When my skin is really desperate for some love and attention, I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub (instead of Aveeno). The grit is big and it’s a bit rough on the skin, which happens to be exactly what my skin needs… on a limited occasion (like maybe one time a week during the coldest of months). It’s too rough for my skin to use on a regular basis. For you men, this is a good product. My husband uses it all year long.
Let’s not forget the moisturizer. I’ve been using Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer for years. I use this every morning all year long. It contains SPF which is essential even in the winter time.
I love Josie Maran Argan Oil Sugar Scrub for my body, but I recently tried Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub and I’m loving it too. I recommend both because they are great. However, Tree Hut is a lot less expensive so right now I’m sticking with the cheaper option (that does just as good a job).
Okay, this one is a long time coming. My husband has been a fan of Lubriderm Advanced Therapy lotion for years. And for years, he’s tried to convince me that this is the only hand lotion that I’ll ever need. But it’s so cheap… there must be something better. I’ve loved the hand lotions that I’ve shared with you over the years (and still do). However, this Lubriderm really wins the contest. It cures our dry skin the fastest of anything that we’ve used and the best part is that it’s super affordable. This has reminded me that the expensive stuff is not always the best stuff.
I hope this helps you decide how best to combat the winter temps. Let me know if you like any of these products and if there’s something else that you love.
