My blog is 11 years old today! Every blog-iversary I make something chocolate-y (except for one year, what was I thinking?!) chocolate cake, mini cheesecake, coffee chocolate chip cookie bars, chocolate chip doughnuts, single serving whole wheat chocolate chip cookie, chocolate cupcakes for two, banana bread doughnuts with chocolate glaze, warm chocolate fudge cakes, chocolate chip black and white cookies, then chocolate lava cakes. I’m back with another chocolate goodie. I mean it’s almost a requirement now. 😉 I love the mini chocolate cheesecake when I’m craving chocolate. I also love the mini cheesecake when I’m craving a classic cheesecake. The other day I couldn’t decide which …

Keftethakia – Greek Meatballs
When your kitchen smells like your Yiayia’s (Greek grandma’s) then you know you’ve cooked up something delicious. These meatballs are small in size but mighty in flavor. They contain onions and garlic, like many other kinds of meatballs. However, these meatballs are also seasoned with mint, parsley, and cinnamon, which are associated with Mediterranean cuisines. My husband asked what you eat with these meatballs. My family usually serves them warm or room temperature as an appetizer with tzatziki or a side dish with dinner, especially during the holiday dinners. They are great as leftovers so I also like to enjoy …
Paximadia – Greek Biscotti
Here’s to my last blog post (and cookie recipe) of 2023. Paximadia means twice baked Greek cookies, in other words biscotti. You essentially bake a big log (or two) then cut them, then bake them again. Hence, you are baking them twice. Some Greek Orthodox folks fast during certain times throughout the year. These fasts limit the types of food that are allowed, not all food entirely. One period of fasting is for a 40 day period prior to Christmas day. These biscotti are a good option to have during the fast because they do not contain eggs or dairy. …
Christmas 2023
Welcome to our home for the 2023 holidays! This year I’m embracing nature, earthy touches, and neutral colors with a touch of traditional reds and greens. Our kitchen tree is an ode to our vacation to Quebec City, Canada because we enjoyed macarons and hot cocoa almost every night in old Quebec. So there are several macaron ornaments on the tree. This summer I found out that I love ferns (mostly because I haven’t killed them yet). It started with one and now I have three. I decided to leave them out on the kitchen table and dress them up …
Gingerbread Crumb Cookies
Gingerbread cookie. Crumbs. Where have these been all my life? These cookies are a little high maintenance to make but that’s okay with me at Christmas time because it’s the time of year to show off some impressive cookies. I don’t often show prep pictures anymore but I thought it was good to show you how much crumb to get on there. It kind of looks like a stuffed mushroom, but it’s not. When they come out of the oven they magically look little crumb cakes but in a chewy cookie form. They have subtle gingerbread flavors so even those …
