Cookie Dough Stuffed Chocolate Sandwiches

These cookies are so fun! I’m not usually drawn to cookies that you don’t bake, but I simply had to make these when I saw them online. I love Oreo cookies and chocolate chip cookie dough so it sounded like a match made in heaven. It turns out I was right because they are so good. I think that this is the safest cookie dough to eat. There are no eggs in it, and I baked the all-purpose flour before I mixed it into the cookie dough. There is some controversy as to whether flour is safe to eat so …

Bacon Orzo Salad

Bacon. Do I have your attention? I was in charge of bringing a salad to a family BBQ birthday celebration over the weekend. I racked my brain to try to think of something outside of the box (i.e. no pasta or potato salad). Remember when I said that orzo is like the forgotten carb? Well, I’m not forgetting about it this weekend. I’m making an orzo salad. Yes, orzo is type of pasta, so I guess that I’m sort of cheating by still bringing a “pasta” salad. However, this one is different than any other that you might see at …

Tzatziki – Cucumber Yogurt Dip

I’m revisiting an oldie but goodie recipe today. Tzatziki sauce is one of my favorite Greek recipes. It’s easy to make, it’s delicious, and it’s super versatile. If you’ve never had it before, it’s yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, oil, and herbs. There are a few simple tips to creating an awesome tzatziki. First, make it ahead of time so that the flavor of the garlic and herbs marinate in the yogurt. Second, use Greek yogurt because it’s thicker than non-Greek yogurt and it makes for a better dip. Third, and I’m sorry for this one, go through the effort …

Tsoureki – Greek Easter Bread

Greek Easter time is when all my favorite Greek goodies come out. Last week I shared my favorite cookie of all time, koulourakia, Greek Easter cookies. This week, it’s all about tsoureki, Greek Easter bread. As with all the bread recipes on my blog, my husband made this bread. In fact, it’s his own recipe. Greek Easter bread is a slightly sweet yeast bread, similar to challah bread. Some people will flavor their Greek Easter bread with specialty ingredients, like masticha and mahleb. Others may flavor their breads with anise, cardamom, vanilla, orange, or even nothing at all. My husband …

Koulourakia – Greek Easter Cookies

These are literally my favorite cookies of all time. All time. Koulourakia are a traditional cookie served at Easter time. There are a bunch of different recipes for this cookie, but basically it’s like a butter cookie. Maybe that’s not quite right. You can’t really explain these I think, you just have to try them I think. They are not sweet. You shape them into a variety of fun designs, like “S” shapes, twists, or swirls. These cookies are soft, not cakey, but more like a tender biscuit that crumbles a little. Okay, I’ll stop now. They are tasty and …
