A Cozy Fall Family Room

Last week I shared with you how I decorated our kitchen for Fall.  Today I’m continuing the tour of our home to show you our cozy Fall family room.  I’m all about being cozied up on the couch under blankets in pajamas and watching Hocus Pocus (which I’ve seen at least three times this season).  And yes, for a change of technique, I’ve taken some of the pictures for this post with my phone.  Sorry if they look a bit funny.  🙂 Candles are a great easy way to create a warm atmosphere.  You’ll see that I placed them placed around the room, …

Vanilla Frosted Doughnuts

Doughnuts are always a good way to start the day.  Unless being healthy is your goal of course. I crave cinnamon during the Fall season, especially if they’re part of a doughnut.  These Fall cool crisp mornings are the best with a cup of hot coffee and yummy fattening treat.  These doughnuts are baked and not fried.  Meaning that they are moist and cakey, and not heavy or greasy. They are seriously one of the best doughnuts I’ve ever made.  In fact, this is the same basic recipe as the crumb doughnuts that I made last year.  Adjust the glaze a …

Easy Fall Kitchen Decor

Do you like to decorate your kitchen for a season or a holiday?  In general, I don’t like a lot of things on my kitchen counters, but I will add a few seasonal touches here and there.  Last month I found so many great items that I thought I’d do an overhaul and show you what my kitchen looks like for Fall. I love Vermont.  My husband and I have visited Vermont several times, each time with different destinations.  I think Burlington is our favorite city because it’s a cute town with lots of things to do in the area.  Plus, it’s a beautiful quintessentially New England town.  Although, to be fair, most of Vermont is that way. A couple of weekends ago we visited Burlington for a long weekend.  Since Fall is the perfect time of year to see the Fall foliage in VT, I thought I’d give you the scoop on some of our favorite spots.  (Keep in mind that …

Snickerdoodles

If cookies were the nifty pictures on a calendar, the snickerdoodle would represent one of the Fall months for sure. I’ve been in a funk with recipe making lately and my husband told me that I was the happiest blogging about cookies.  He’s absolutely right.  So I made cookies. I’m all about cinnamon and other warm spices this time of the year and I instantly thought about snickerdoodles.  They are part sugar cookie, part cinnamon, and all delicious.  I’ve never made a snickerdoodle before.  I know, right?  With all the cookie recipes in my collection, you’d think this would have …
