Did you see the solar eclipse last week? My husband and I traveled to Nebraska with my father-in-law and his wife to be right near the centerline of the path of the eclipse’s totality (the part where the sun appears to be completely covered by the moon). We picked a spot near some corn fields (check it out in satellite view mode to see how much corn we were in the middle of), set up our camera and telescope, and busted out our fancy cardboard solar glasses. As the eclipse started there weren’t really a lot of obvious differences in, well, …

Fall Beauty Refresh
Happy Friday! I’ve shared some of my beauty favorites with you and I thought I’d give you an update on what I’m currently using. The timing is perfect because it’s fun to refresh your look for the upcoming season. Most of my routine has changed, with the exception of the Aveeno moisturizer and Smashbox primer which have been my go-to products for years. I mix the moisturize with the Farsali Rose Gold Elixir oil. The Armani luminous silk foundation is my newest favorite beauty product. Labor Day Recipes
Last week I shared some of my favorite things that I’m looking forward to about Fall. However, I’m not quite sure if I’m ready for summer to be over. Mostly I’ll miss the fresh fruits and vegetables that are available locally this time of the year. Why more places don’t include delicious corn in their guac is beyond me. Cold Sweet Potato Salad. Everyone …
Tomatoes and Feta with Polenta
Never underestimate a dish built on the foundation of only tomatoes and cheese. It works for a classic pizza, right? When I don’t have much food in the house and I don’t want to go to the grocery store I tend to get creative with what I do have. I had tomatoes and feta cheese and not much else. Truth be told, I could have been happy with these tomatoes, feta cheese, olive oil and herbs on top of some toast for a snack. However, I remembered that I had some polenta hidden in the back of the cupboard. Suddenly …
Fall Crushes
I know that it’s still August, but Fall is my favorite time of the year so I’m already looking forward to everything to do with it. Grab a cup a joe or whatever beverage you fancy (maybe a cold iced tea because it’s a hot summer day) and humor me while I share what I’m looking forward to about Fall. I won’t even judge you if you sneak some pumpkin spice into it. Fall fashion Booties. Nordstrom had their big annual sale recently so I bought these Steve Madden booties (in black) and these Hinge booties (in taupe). It was …
