Coffee Crumb Cake

I’m sort of obsessed with crumb cakes. The cake, the crumbs, I love it all.  I’ve posted a number of crumb cake recipes on my blog and I’d probably have done more if I didn’t think that you might say “okay, enough crumb cakes already, T.”  So I try my best to space them out. I know that I told you that the NY style crumb cake is the best one ever.  I still stand by that statement.  However, when I saw the recipe for this crumb cake, I simply had to try it to see how it compared. This …

Dark Chocolate Chip Nut Cookies

Cookies are always a good idea.  I’m sure I’ve said that a bazillion times, but it’s true. A few weeks ago we went to Lake George, NY with my entire family.  It’s an annual family tradition.  Everyone asks us to bring cookies so that’s become part of the annual tradition.  My husband made chocolate macadamia white chip cookies and these dark chocolate chip nut cookies. We’ve made chocolate chip cookies many times for Lake George.  Although last year we forgot them at home (and my family still brings that up today).  Anyway, since the chocolate chip cookies are always a HUGE hit my husband wanted to make …

Blueberry Muffins

Muffins are a good excuse to have cake for breakfast. Let’s face it, muffins are really like cupcakes without frosting.  I’d like to think that these muffins are a tad healthier than cupcakes since I’ve filled them with fruit, but in truth a lot of good cakes have fruit in them too.  Since fruit is healthy I hereby deem that muffins are healthy for breakfast.  Okay, probably not, but they sure are tasty.  😉 Muffins, being pre-portioned, are a great thing to bring for a crowd to eat.  No need for silverware to eat them with or cutting tools for …

Cucumber Quinoa Spinach Salad and Lake George Vacation

Salads are a great way to recover from a food coma. Last weekend was our annual vacation to Lake George, NY with my family.   My family and I used to go when I was kid and now we’ve made it a tradition to go once a year as adults with everyone’s families.  We eat, swim (or in my case lay out by the pool), shop, and eat some more.  It is great to get away from reality and relax.  No agenda.  No calorie counting. Every year I bring a variety of homemade goodies, which always includes cookies of some sort like these …

Chocolate Macadamia White Chip Cookies

When your husband volunteers to bake cookies you take him up on the offer. I love making cookies and it’s probably my favorite food to make.  I mean it’s cookies, hello?  Anyway, I didn’t mind at all when my husband said he’d like to whip up a batch (or two, hint hint).  If you’re familiar with my blog then you know that he’s not a stranger to the kitchen.  His specialty is making bread.  He’s made every yeast bread recipe on Tina’s Chic Corner (i.e. Dave’s Bread Corner).  That’s convenient since he enjoys making it and I’m afraid to. Forgive me for there being …
