Black And White Cookies

Black and white cookies.  It sounds like a name that a kid would give a cookie, but many of us know that the reference is to those iconic cookies that orginated from New York bakeries.  My entire family LOVES them.  I mean really loves them.  What better to celebrate my love for them this time of the year but to bake them these cookies.  They are a labor of love (you’ll see why), but my family is worth it.     🙂 These large cake-like cookies are coated with a thick layer of sweet frosting, half vanilla and half chocolate. Peanut Butter Chocolate Poppers

What do you call desserts that act like cookies but don’t look like cookies?  I’m totally serious, this is not a trick question.  These bite sized treats that I made have a ball shape, but I don’t want to call them balls because it sounds funny.  They don’t look like cookies so I have issues calling them that too.  I think I’ll stick with calling them poppers, like I did for my Almond Cranberry Granola Poppers.     🙂 These no-bake poppers are full of peanut butter, chocolate, and oat goodness. Peanut Butter Chocolate Poppers Recipe (Makes about 33 poppers) Ingredients: 2 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup skim milk 2/3 cup white …

Cranberry Date Nut Bars

Do you want a cookie but not the calories that go with it?  That’s what I have here.  Well, it’s not technically a “cookie” per say, but I’m calling it close enough.     😉  These no bake bars taste like a berry fruit roll up snack, except these bars are loaded with healthy ingredients. Cranberry Date Nut Bars Recipe (16 servings) Ingredients: 1 cup almonds 1 cup dried cranberries 1 cup pitted dates 1 tablespoon sweetened coconut flakes 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 cup miniature chocolate chips (optional) Directions: Combine the almonds, dried cranberries, pitted dates, coconut flakes, and …

Cake Mix Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

Are you a fan of using a cake mix to bake cookies?  I used to think that a cake mix should only be used for baking cakes because it seemed weird to use it for anything else.  However, since I continuously try to expand my horizons I tried it in the Chocolate Gooey Cookies.  I love how they came out puffy and taste like mini moist cakes.  That recipe was my inspiration for creating these cake mix dark chocolate chip cookies. These cookies are a moist and cakey vanilla based cookie loaded with lots of dark chocolate chips. Cake Mix Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe (Makes 24  cookies) Note: Requires …

Chocolate Gingerbread Bars

I’m a big fan of Tory Burch and her handbags.  I find that they are pricey but every now and then I like to splurge.  I saw (on her blog) that Tory’s Thanksgiving menu involved a gingerbread brownie for dessert.  Chocolate and gingerbread combined into one goodie?  I’d never heard of such a thing.  It got me thinking…why not?  Fast forward through all my research to these chocolate gingerbread bars and now I’m in love with the combo.  In fact, I’m a bit obsessed with it and I wonder how I ever managed without it. These bars are a moist gingerbread chocolate cake loaded …
