Bougatsa – Greek Custard Pastries

A cup of Greek coffee and Greek sweets is always a good idea. If you’ve never heard of bougatsa before, it’s a sweet custard individually wrapped in phyllo dough. It’s very similar to my favorite Greek dessert, galaktoboureko, except you cover the bougatsa with powdered sugar not syrup and they are bite sized. As a friendly heads up, I think that these are a pain to make. You know that I like to keep it real for you guys. There is nothing difficult about this recipe, in fact it’s quite easy. However, I despise working with phyllo dough because it’s …

Mini Cheesecake

9 years and 827 posts later… Somewhere along the way I realized that I marked each blog-iversary with a recipe that has chocolate in it… coffee chocolate chip cookie bars, chocolate chip doughnuts, single serving whole wheat chocolate chip cookie, chocolate cupcakes for two, banana bread doughnuts with chocolate glaze, warm chocolate fudge cakes, chocolate chip black and white cookies, then chocolate lava cakes. Strawberry Cheesecake Pretzel Tart

If you make one dessert this summer, it should be this strawberry cheesecake pretzel tart. My husband and I are fully vaccinated now so we are finally able to see family! That means we were able to enjoy our annual ribfest at my mother-in-law’s for Memorial Day. Mmmm ribs. Sorry, I digress. I asked my husband what dessert we should bring and he found this recipe. Well, he found a winner. The crust is made out of pretzels. Isn’t that genius? I’ve never heard of such a thing. The filling is a no bake cheesecake or cream pie filling. My …

Individual Apple Crisps

I’m making individual sized desserts because that’s how I roll lately. I found this recipe early in the morning last weekend and they were just the thing I needed to perk up a rainy cool Autumn day. I was excited to see that I already had all of the ingredients so I busted them out and had the oven going before my husband was awake. These are definitely not a bad thing to wake up to and the kitchen smelled wonderful. I absolutely adore the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg and they are the perfect autumnal spices. Fill the ramekins …

Rizogalo – Rice Pudding

Have you ever had rice pudding? I don’t mean store bought vanilla pudding with rice mixed in. I mean the real deal. There are a ton of rice pudding recipes out there but I’m partial to this recipe for several reasons. First, I like the texture. This is not a custard and not a porridge. Instead, this rice pudding is more like a bowl of rice with very thick and sweet milk. I’m not sure if that makes sense so hopefully my pictures give you a better idea of the texture. Second, it tastes delicious. It’s sweet but not too …
