Chocolate Nut Strudel

Chocolate for breakfast is always a good idea. This strudel is not strictly for breakfast.  In fact, my husband would probably say that this is really a dessert.  I see bakery shops sell this kind of pastry with coffee.  You drink coffee with breakfast.  So naturally a pastry like this strudel should be eaten for breakfast.  (Take that logic!)  I’m a chocoholic so maybe you can’t go by me.  This is not meant to be a big debate.  If you make this strudel, you can eat it whatever time of the day you want.  🙂 I can’t even begin to tell you …

Couscous With Tomato, Scallion, And Lemon

I’m not super excited that the clocks spring ahead this weekend. We’ll lose one hour of sleep.  My eating and sleeping habits will be off all week as my brain readjusts.  The days won’t even be any longer.  All it does is slide the daylight around a little.  Well, I guess as long as the shift is toward the afternoon then I’ll have more daylight to photograph my food, which means that I don’t have to rush in the early morning to get all the cooking and photographing done.  That’s totally a silver lining.  Plus, I don’t need to get into my pajamas …

Roasted Beet Salad With Goat Cheese And Pistachios

Does anyone else find it difficult to buy sunglasses? I own two pairs of sunglasses and one of them isn’t comfortable so I really only have one pair.  Spring is almost here and I need to step up my game in the shades department.  My local Macy’s recently added a sunglass hut so I checked it out yesterday.  I spent an hour there and I left with nothing.  An hour.  Sigh.  It shouldn’t be this hard, right?  Okay, I’m done looking for sympathy.  😉 Anyway, the other day I was looking through a cookbook and found this recipe.  Coincidentally, I recently saw …

Almond Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Do you get obsessed when you find a new ingredient that you love?  Right now I’m into baking with coconut oil and coconut sugar. Do you bake with coconut sugar?  If so, do you use it because of a particular health reason or because you like the flavor?  I’m curious.  It sounds like coconut sugar has some good benefits, but I don’t really have a strong opinion one way or the other.  I’m just having fun experimenting with it, especially since I’ve had some successful recipes lately.  I still bake mostly with white and brown sugars. I recently ran out of the paleo chocolate …

Tomatoes, White Beans, and Broccolini Salad

I’m craving Spring and all things that remind me of Spring. I’m not complaining because we’ve had a mild winter, but I sure am anxious for warmer weather and longer days.  I can’t wear shorts yet (nor do I even want to).  Hello, white legs.  But I can start eating foods that fresh and feel spring-y, like this salad.  Isn’t it funny how we tend to crave warm, comforting, fatty foods in the winter, but then do a 180 and crave healthy fresh veggies and fruit once it warms up?  I don’t think I’m alone in this.  Am I?  (I’m hearing …
