Brownie Cookies

Brownie and cookie.  Do I have your attention? I’m trying to get back on track to eating healthy.  The holidays were not kind to my waistline.  I’ve tried many diets that prohibit me from eating the things that I love and at the end of the day they didn’t go well.  I’d either quit or put the weight back on as soon as I was quit.  So I believe in moderation.  I like to have my salad and to eat a cookie too, especially when we’re talking about a chocolate cookie.  For those of you who follow me regularly you know …

New Things

It’s a new year and I’ve got some new things that I’m really loving.  Of course I must share them with you. New planner.  A new year means a new planner.  I wanted something more sophisticated than my 2016 planner so I chose this weekly leather planner from Gallery Leather.  I was so excited when I found it.  I almost felt like I was 10 years old picking out new folders for the new school year.  My husband points out that virtually no one uses actual planners anymore since everyone has smartphones.  I’m old school and I like the zen …

Double Chocolate Banana Muffins

I can’t resist chocolate, even if it’s for breakfast.  Can you? I made double chocolate banana bread topped with peanut butter icing and mini peanut butter cups a couple of years ago.  Oh, it IS as delicious as it sounds.  I’ve been meaning to turn the recipe into muffins because who wouldn’t want the same tasty deal in a convenient grab it and go form? Mimosa

Calling all brunch lovers…  I’ve got “the” cocktail recipe for you.  Of course I’m talking about a mimosa.  It’s part breakfast and part happy hour all combined into one snazzy drink. Happy New Year everyone!  Here’s to a fantastic 2017!  I started the new year with a mimosa (and a fantastic breakfast coming later this week to the blog).  My husband and I spent a cozy night at home for new year’s eve and we had some champagne leftover.  We had orange juice handy too.  Champagne… orange juice… do you see where this is going? A mimosa is the easiest cocktail …

Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

It’s soup season.  You know, cold out and stuff. If you’re suffering from a post holiday food coma and you’re tired of being in the kitchen like I am then this bean soup couldn’t come at a better time.  This soup is a great way to get back on track for healthy eating because it’s made of beans and veggies.  That’s all healthy stuff all the time. You cook this soup in a slow cooker.  I’m not really drawn to slow cooker recipes because I don’t mind cooking soup on the stove.  Oh, plus, I don’t like to leave the house when the crock pot is on.  …
