I had every intention of sharing a recipe with you today, but let’s just say things didn’t work out as I had planned this past weekend. I had more recipe failures than one should be allowed to experience in one weekend. I’ll take it as a learning experience.
#1 Do NOT trust your memory. Even if you think you have an ingredient at home, pick it up anyway. A backup is never a waste. I live 15 minutes away from the nearest grocery store and on principle I refused to make the trip for 1 stinking can of diced tomatoes.
#2 Lightened homemade ice cream is gross. Seriously, we’ve tried many recipes over the years. In fact, a few years ago my husband was making some horrible incarnation of “wanna be” ice cream every couple weeks without success. I apparently forgot those experiments in how not to make ice cream because I found a recipe I just had to try. We made it this past weekend and the experience has finally confirmed that they are not worth making. In fact, I’m even beginning to question why I even make ice cream at home because it’s kind of a pain in the butt. Dairy Free Chocolate Coconut Ice Cream as the only possible success excluded.
#3 Coffee houses that sell caramel iced coffees or macchiatos must include a secret ingredient. I tried to make it at home and it was tasty. Hello, it’s coffee and I’m a coffee lover. However, it did not taste like caramel anything. Not even in the slightest. Even with delicious Hershey’s Caramel Syrup. Lame. It just came out like sweetened coffee.
I don’t want to leave you hanging on a typical post day so I thought I’d share what stuff I’m into lately. Here it goes…
Jem & The Holograms. Whaaaat?! I adored the cartoon as a kid so I’m super excited to see that they are coming out with a movie version. Um, I’m dating myself.
Booties. Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year. I’m not rushing summer by any means, but I’m looking forward to all things that make Fall time awesome. I had no intention of buying boots in the middle of August, but I saw these Tahari Booties on uber sale last week. I bought them in olive green last year and loved them so it was a no brainer for me to scoop them up in black.
I really did not want to pay $10 in shipping those booties to me so I spent over $100 on these 424 Fifth Booties in order to get free shipping. That only makes sense to a shoe fanatic. 😉
Charm Necklaces. I’m obsessed with this Build a Charm Pendant that I just found the other day. What a great way to personalize your own jewelry. There are all sorts of charms, even a unicorn charm. Do you remember the plastic charm necklaces from back in 80’s and 90’s? I loved them and had a huge collection of charms. I remember my mom, sisters, and I digging through the boxes at the drug store to find ones that we didn’t already have. Ah, good memories. By the way, I see that you can buy those plastic charm necklaces on Etsy and Ebay as vintage. When did the stuff I grew up with become vintage?
What stuff are you into? I’d love to know. 🙂
Ciao and have a beautiful weekend!
