8 BBQ Side Dish Recipes

BBQ season officially kicks off this Memorial Day weekend!  I’m heading to my sister’s house for a family gathering and I’m in charge of bringing a side dish.  She’s making the standard issue BBQ food, like hamburgers and hot dogs.   I have no idea what to bring so I headed to my recipe index to see what my options are.  In case you’re also wondering what to bring to a BBQ, I thought I’d gather my top 7 options in one nifty spot.

Here are my top 8 BBQ side dish recipes:

Cowboy Caviar.  I have made this dish as an appetizer but it also makes for a great side dish.

Cold Sweet Potato Salad.  I love that this sweet potato salad is twist on the classic potato salad.  I bet not many people think to bring a cold sweet potato salad to a BBQ.

Summer Barley Salad.  Doesn’t this just scream summertime?  Yum.

Watermelon and Feta Salad.  I love this sweet and salty combo.

Quinoa Salad.  My husband is not a fan of quinoa so I will not be making this salad this weekend.  However, this is a great option if you want to bring a salad that’s different from the traditional pasta and potato salads that you might find at a BBQ, and of course if your audience is interested in eating it.

Green Beans with Tomatoes.  This is a great low carb option that will taste great with BBQ foods.

Crispy Baked Potato Wedges.  The beauty about these baked potatoes is that you can enjoy them hot or cold.  As a heads up, if you make them ahead of time and eat them cold then they won’t be crispy but they are still dang tasty.

White Beans and Couscous with Fresh Tomato Salad.  Have you ever thought about bringing a couscous salad to a BBQ?  Similar to a quinoa salad, it’s a great alternative that you might not have seen at many BBQ tables.  I’d love me some couscous and hamburger.  🙂

What should I bring to the BBQ?
