Cheddar Drop Biscuits

Cheddar. Biscuit. Need I say more? Well, I’ll say a few words. These biscuits are loaded with a lot of cheddar cheese. A lot. So if you’re a cheese fan then you will love these. My husband and I enjoyed these with beef stew (stay tuned for that recipe) last weekend. Add in a glass of beer and it was the perfect meal for a cold winter day. This recipe did not come with a photo in the cookbook, which is a pet peeve of mine, but I went with it anyway. I had no idea what to expect but …

Popovers

What are popovers? I had never heard of them until my husband introduced me to them a few years ago. Popovers are kind of like a crepe shaped muffin. Or maybe a souffle? Essentially they are a tall airy omelette. Well, whatever they are, they are really tall and a lot of the time the bottom isn’t flat enough to let them stand up. Neat, right? Cornbread (Redux)

I’ve been craving cornbread so here we are making my favorite recipe. I originally shared this cornbread recipe back in 2013. Side note, how is it that I’ve been blogging over 7 years?! Anyway. It’s still my favorite cornbread recipe and I wanted to share it again because it’s that good. Plus, it’s a bonus for me to have updated pictures. It’s my favorite cornbread because it’s moist but a tad crumbly (as cornbread should be). There is a hint of sweetness in this cornbread, which I love.  Some people don’t like the sugar because they feel like they are …

White Bread

If you like bread, here’s one for you. I fell in love with this bread the first time that my husband made it. It’s so fluffy and delicious and it’s absolutely better than anything you would buy from the store. Of course white bread can be used in all sorts of ways, toasted for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, a side for dinner, a snack, sliced for an appetizer board, you name it. Lately, we’ve been enjoying grilled cheese sandwiches. Probably because they are a good companion to soups and chilis. How do you make grilled cheese? My husband spreads some …

Cheese Beer Bread

Cheese and beer.  What else do you need in life?  Oh right, and probably bacon.  (There is no bacon here, but there probably should be.) My family is coming over tomorrow for our annual Christmas gathering.  We’ll be watching the Army versus Navy football game.  Go Army!  My dad went to West Point so I’m partial.  Anyway, that means there will be a lot of people over and that means a lot of mouths to feed.  Football is a good excuse to make a huge pot of chili.  Do you see where I’m going with this?  😉 Of course there must …
