My husband and I love to host dinners with family and friends during the holidays. Everything you see in these photos are things that I already had, except for the table runner and fresh flowers. Yet, this scene looks very different than what I’ve done in past years. It just goes to show you that you don’t need to buy all new things every year.
I love an excuse to buy fresh flowers but I do it on a budget. Two words… grocery store. I bought 3 bunches with a single flower type in each for only $15 total and put these arrangements together. Add a bunch of candles and the mood is set!
Candles, garland, and baubles. This is a classic and easy vignette to put together on any budget and in any theme.
The little crystal nativity set was my Yiayia’s and so it’s special to me. A side table is a great place to show case your own treasures (especially the delicate pieces). No reason to put things in harm’s way if you can avoid it.
My husband found this book at a library book sale in Kent Falls this year for just a couple dollars. I think books are a great way to help create a vignette.
I used white dinnerware because I wanted a simple setting next to the patterned table runner. I could not resist doing a little origami with red clothed napkins. Aren’t the bows so cute? My friends got a kick out of it.
So what’s the most fun Christmas dessert for hosting? This doughnut hole shaped Christmas tree. I made this last year and oh my goodness I loved how it turned out. Not only does it look festive, but it was delicious and a big topic of conversation at a family gathering. This is what you make when you’re looking for a show stopper.
Happy hosting season!
