Sugar Cookies

Holiday cookie baking has officially begun. Actually, I started baking cookies a few weeks ago. As soon as the cookies have cooled I store them in freezer friendly bags pop them in the freezer. Yes, you can really do that and yes, they really taste just as delicious as the day I baked them. Most people are surprised that you can freeze cookies, but it’s the only way to do it really when you make tons of cookies and obviously aren’t going to make them all in one day. The only trick is trying not to eat them before you …

Pumpkin Pie – Redux

Greetings! Is anyone still in a food coma from Thanksgiving weekend? Are you sick of seeing pie yet? I hope not, because I’m super excited to talk about pumpkin pie today. Chicken Tacos

I feel like I should be sharing a recipe that’s appropriate for the Thanksgiving Day holiday, but I’m going to be a rebel and share a taco recipe instead. This soup is a nostalgic one for me because my mom used to make it all the time when I was a kid (and she still makes her own version). My mom’s recipe for chicken soup goes something like “add a little bit of this and a lot of that.” Her soup is delicious, but I like to follow a recipe that has exact measurements. So I turned to the internet to try to find one that resembled my mom’s. That’s a tall order but it turns out that I was successful with this recipe. While this is called “chicken …

Taco Soup

If you’re wondering what taco soup is, then you’re not alone because I had the same question. A few weeks ago my husband found this recipe online and he said “we should try this because it looks good.” It’s not often that he suggests a recipe to try and I’m always looking for new ones so I happily agreed. But I wondered what taco soup was. When I gathered the ingredients together I told my husband that it looked like we were making chili. It has all the makings for, wait for it, chili. Beef and beans, yup, sounds like …
