Banana Doughnut Holes

Time to make the doughnuts.  Does anyone remember that commercial?  I know I’m dating myself but I always have to say that when I make doughnuts. Now when I say “doughnuts,” I use the term loosely.  These are baked and not fried because I don’t own a fryer.  There is a very good reason for that.  (My waistline thanks me.)  Every now and then my husband says that we should own one.  He really wants to make “proper” fried yeast doughnuts.  The problem is that we’d probably make them like every day.  Plus the food blogger in me would probably want to try …

Chocolate Chip Scones

What makes brunch so fabulous? Perhaps brunch is popular because it’s an event where it’s socially acceptable to drink champagne before noon.  Maybe you love it because it’s a good way to have breakfast, lunch and dessert at the same meal.  Think of brunch like a diner where you can order a turkey sandwich with fries while your husband has french toast.  It also means you can have dessert more than once in just one day.  I think that might be the best part.  #sweetjunkie If you’re hosting a brunch (like for Easter this Sunday), then scones are a must have addition.  Just …

Here’s the third installment in my Best Ever series!  What’s it all about?  Click here to get the scoop. Today I’m sharing with you the, Best… Crumb Cake… Ever.  If you like big crumbs then this is the crumb cake to end all crumb cakes. I’ve made roughly a bazillion (roughly 😉 ) crumb cakes and coffee cakes.  Wait, can you really compare crumb cakes to coffee cakes?  They are similar but definitely different.  Which one is better?  I’m getting side tracked.  Let’s save that debate for another day.  For the purposes of today’s post it doesn’t really matter because this crumb cake trumps …

Chocolate Nut Strudel

Chocolate for breakfast is always a good idea. This strudel is not strictly for breakfast.  In fact, my husband would probably say that this is really a dessert.  I see bakery shops sell this kind of pastry with coffee.  You drink coffee with breakfast.  So naturally a pastry like this strudel should be eaten for breakfast.  (Take that logic!)  I’m a chocoholic so maybe you can’t go by me.  This is not meant to be a big debate.  If you make this strudel, you can eat it whatever time of the day you want.  🙂 I can’t even begin to tell you …

Couscous With Tomato, Scallion, And Lemon

I’m not super excited that the clocks spring ahead this weekend. We’ll lose one hour of sleep.  My eating and sleeping habits will be off all week as my brain readjusts.  The days won’t even be any longer.  All it does is slide the daylight around a little.  Well, I guess as long as the shift is toward the afternoon then I’ll have more daylight to photograph my food, which means that I don’t have to rush in the early morning to get all the cooking and photographing done.  That’s totally a silver lining.  Plus, I don’t need to get into my pajamas …
