Fruit and Oat Smoothie

Who had a crazy hectic weekend and ate or drank too much and needs to detox with healthy foods on this Monday? Not me.  I had the most boring weekend ever and I’m okay with that.  Low key weekends are a great way to recharge myself.  In fact, the past couple of weekends have been quiet and I’ve actually had time to catch up on some reading.  It’s rare that I actually start and finish a book (unless I’m away on vacation).  I read “It Was Me All Along” by Andie Mitchell.  It’s a memoir about her struggles with weight …

Berry Crisp for One

Have you ever eaten at a restaurant by yourself? If you say yes, then I might cry.  No really, I have issues seeing people eating alone.  I feel so bad that I’ve considered inviting myself over to join the person.  The other part of my problem is that I have a total double standard.  I don’t have a problem with the idea of me eating alone, and I do it in the food court at the mall sometimes.  Is that really considered eating alone though?  My husband piped up at this point to inform me that I wasn’t actually eating …

Stuff I’m Into: Eye Lashes

Today’s post is a little different than my usual “Stuff I’m Into” post because I’m focusing on beauty.  I’m a girly-girl when it comes to make-up and beauty thing so I’m surprised that it’s taken me this long to share one. I love make-up, but I’m especially into my eye lashes.  I want them as long and thick as possible (without resorting to fake lashes, which I’ve never tried).  After years and years of trying stuff, I’ve finally found a routine that works for me.  I’ve been following these steps for about six months now and I’m lovin’ my lashes. Vitamins. …

Greek Sweet Potato Fry Salad

“You don’t win friends with salad.” – Homer Simpson.  Normally I might agree with Homer, but this salad has a better chance than most. I’ve been craving sweet potato fries for months and I’ve finally made them to satisfy that craving.  These sweet potato fries are baked and I happen to think that they are better than some fried ones because they are not greasy.  I don’t mind a “fried” fry every now and then but I’m not a fan of them if they’re greasy and limp.  Blah… limp. These baked ones are nice and crispy and super simple (no fancy seasoning, just salt …

Whole Wheat Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

How do you use your ripe bananas that are about to go bad? I had some bananas to use and clearly I like to turn them into baked goodies.  Hello, sweet junkie, at your service.  When I bake with bananas I have one kind of important rule… I need to have all the ingredients on hand already.  The timing on bananas is just too sensitive to go grocery shopping before I can make something.  I need to use them the second I’ve made up mind it’s time.  If I don’t use the bananas that exact second they’ll grow legs and …
