5 Healthy and Easy Snacks

Lately I’ve been trying to focus on eating healthier. For me that means I eat smaller meals and snacks throughout the day.  I’m always looking for healthy snack ideas so I thought you might like to see what my favorites have been lately.

Here are 5 healthy and easy snack ideas:

Peanut Butter Sandwich. I don’t think that I can get tired of peanut butter on a slice of whole wheat bread.  In an attempt to reduce the sugar, I’ve recently tried Nature’s Promise Organic No-Stir Crunchy Peanut Butter Spread.  I can’t find a link for it online because it’s sold at my local Stop & Shop.  I’ve tried other brands of organic peanut butter in the past but I have never stuck with them because I don’t like the oil that forms at the top (gross) and they tend to be too thick and pasty.  While this Stop & Shop one does have sugar in it, it’s way less than most other brands.  I use about ½ tablespoon of peanut butter.

When I want more than just PB and bread, I add whatever fruit I have on hand. Deeelicious.

Chocolate and Peanut Butter.  I’m obsessed with these Quaker Oats chocolate crunch rice cakes.  They seem to do the trick with satisfying a sweet craving.  I love to add the littlest bit of peanut butter on top for some protein.  I use Nature’s Promise Organic No-Stir Peanut Butter Spread with Honey.  Plus, it reminds me of a Reese’s peanut butter cup… sort of… not really… that’s what I pretend at least.  😉

Almonds and Fruit.  This is super simple and not fancy at all, but it does the trick.  I eat 12 almonds (yes, I count them) and whatever fruit I have on hand.  I like to switch up the fruit as much as I can so that it feels like a different snack.  I like the almonds for a source of protein and to help make the snack stick to me.

Celery and Peanut Butter. This is so old school and quite frankly I’m sure I’ll get tired of this one soon because, well, it’s celery.  I swear the crunchy peanut butter makes it SO much better though.  I use about 1 tablespoon of peanut butter.  I have to admit that I feel bad bringing this snack to work though because it’s loud.  Lol.

Smoothie. Of course there’s the good old standby smoothie.  I have many smoothie recipes on my blog but this banana smoothie is by far the easiest one (and probably the one that I make the most).  Click here for the recipe.  You only need 3 ingredients!

What’s your favorite healthy snack?  Does it involve peanut butter?  Apparently most of mine do.

These snacks look so good. I showed them to my husband and he said, “When are you going to make these for me?” A homerun Tina. Thanks!
