Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year.  I know I’ve said it a bazillion times.  There is something about the crisp air and falling leaves that makes me happy.

I thought I’d share with you some ways that I’m getting ready for the season.

Pumpkin Spice Latte.  I think this is one of things that you either love or hate.  I happen to love it.  I’m one of those girls who will take a picture of her first Starbucks’ pumpkin spice latte and post it on social media.  Cliche, I know, but did it really happen if I don’t post a picture of it?  😉  I can’t wait to get that first cup.  I’ll treat myself a few times during the season but when I want to enjoy my coffee in my cozy pajamas at home, I’ll make an awesome homemade pumpkin spice latte.  Making this latte is a great way to use up any leftover pumpkin puree that you used for another recipe.  You know what I mean, right?  Some recipes don’t use the entire can’s worth.

Fall Pumpkin Baking.  I’m all about pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, you get the idea, anything pumpkin related.  I’m pretty sure that I told my husband back in July that I wanted to make a pumpkin pie.  He didn’t object, by the way.  I ended up not making the pie because I sort of felt weird for making pumpkin pie in the middle of summer.  That was silly.  I’ve made quite a few pumpkin recipes over the years so check it my recipe index if you’re looking for something delicious.

Fall Home.  Blankets and candles will instantly make a room cozy and warm.  I’m kind of a sucker for blankets and I’ve already bought a new one at the Home Goods store.  I bought the apple candle (pictured above) from TJMaxx.  Both stores are great places to find fun seasonal decorations on a budget.

Fall Fashion.  Over-sized cozy sweaters and scarves are probably two of my favorite things of all time.  They are comfy and warm (duh) and they hide a multitude of imperfections.  I have tons of scarves so I promised myself this year that I would not buy any this season.  Let’s see if I actually stick to my guns.

I’m obsessed with pleated skirts (and have been for quite some time).  I recently bought a dusty blue pleated skirt.  It’s not the typical Fall color palette, but I’ll accessorize it with dark colors like black or cranberry to give it a Fall-ish twist.

Camo and leopard print anything is trendy this season, which is good because I’ve loved this trend for years.  I love my light weight camo jacket, which I got a few years ago from Forever 21.  I throw it on with a white t-shirt and jeans and boom, I’ve got my favorite casual weekend outfit for Fall.

Sometimes wearing leopard print can be tricky, especially for a short gal like me, because you don’t want to be head to toe in the print (at least I don’t).  Pick one piece, like a leopard print skirt, sweater cardigan, or scarf.  I have a very similar scarf that I bought over five years ago.  Then accessorize the rest of your outfit with neutrals colors.  Easy peezy.

When I’m at home I pretty much live in soft pajamas and fuzzy socks.  I usually buy flannel pajamas from Old Navy but I wasn’t crazy about their selection last year.  Instead I bought a few pajamas from Abercrombie and Fitch.  I can’t wait to see what both of them come out with for this season because I’m certain that I’ll be adding to my collection.

What are you guys looking forward to for Fall?
