Vanilla Frosted Doughnuts

Doughnuts are always a good way to start the day.  Unless being healthy is your goal of course. I crave cinnamon during the Fall season, especially if they’re part of a doughnut.  These Fall cool crisp mornings are the best with a cup of hot coffee and yummy fattening treat.  These doughnuts are baked and not fried.  Meaning that they are moist and cakey, and not heavy or greasy. They are seriously one of the best doughnuts I’ve ever made.  In fact, this is the same basic recipe as the crumb doughnuts that I made last year.  Adjust the glaze a …

Banana Bread Doughnuts with Chocolate Glaze

609 posts and five years later… Tomorrow is my five year blogiversary.  I seriously can’t believe it.  When I started my blog I had no expectations and I had no idea what I was doing (and sometimes I still don’t think I have a clue).  It was and still is a hobby that I’m very passionate about.  I enjoy sharing recipes and other miscellaneous things with you.  Over the years I’ve started to share more non-recipe posts with you for a couple of reasons.  One, it’s getting harder to find recipes that are worth sharing because I have quite the …

Chocolate Crumb Doughnuts

Happy Saturday, guys! I don’t usually post on the weekends.  I had planned on posting last night but someone got sidetracked shopping at The Home Goods store for Christmas decorations.  😉  Boy, the store was a mob scene, but I’m glad that I went because I wanted to see what they had before it got picked over.  It’s the kind of store that’s a hit or a miss but I’m happy to say that the crowds and long line was worth it because I did get a few things.  I’ll be sharing some sneak peaks on instagram and twitter before …

Crumb Doughnuts

O… M… G.  These are the best doughnuts that I’ve ever made.  Ever. I’ve made a lot of baked doughnuts and I’m a tough critic.  I suppose it’s because a baked doughnut is not fried (duh) and in my mind and they’re just not the same.  I refuse to own a fryer (because I don’t need more fatty temptations) so I’ve come to terms with the fact that baked doughnuts tend to look and taste like oddly shaped cakes. In comparing these doughnuts to all the others I’ve made (some on the blog and some that weren’t good enough to make the blog), they …

Banana Doughnut Holes

Time to make the doughnuts.  Does anyone remember that commercial?  I know I’m dating myself but I always have to say that when I make doughnuts. Now when I say “doughnuts,” I use the term loosely.  These are baked and not fried because I don’t own a fryer.  There is a very good reason for that.  (My waistline thanks me.)  Every now and then my husband says that we should own one.  He really wants to make “proper” fried yeast doughnuts.  The problem is that we’d probably make them like every day.  Plus the food blogger in me would probably want to try …
