Greek Sweet Potato Fry Salad

“You don’t win friends with salad.” – Homer Simpson.  Normally I might agree with Homer, but this salad has a better chance than most. I’ve been craving sweet potato fries for months and I’ve finally made them to satisfy that craving.  These sweet potato fries are baked and I happen to think that they are better than some fried ones because they are not greasy.  I don’t mind a “fried” fry every now and then but I’m not a fan of them if they’re greasy and limp.  Blah… limp. These baked ones are nice and crispy and super simple (no fancy seasoning, just salt …

Whole Wheat Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

How do you use your ripe bananas that are about to go bad? I had some bananas to use and clearly I like to turn them into baked goodies.  Hello, sweet junkie, at your service.  When I bake with bananas I have one kind of important rule… I need to have all the ingredients on hand already.  The timing on bananas is just too sensitive to go grocery shopping before I can make something.  I need to use them the second I’ve made up mind it’s time.  If I don’t use the bananas that exact second they’ll grow legs and …

Banana Doughnut Holes

Time to make the doughnuts.  Does anyone remember that commercial?  I know I’m dating myself but I always have to say that when I make doughnuts. Now when I say “doughnuts,” I use the term loosely.  These are baked and not fried because I don’t own a fryer.  There is a very good reason for that.  (My waistline thanks me.)  Every now and then my husband says that we should own one.  He really wants to make “proper” fried yeast doughnuts.  The problem is that we’d probably make them like every day.  Plus the food blogger in me would probably want to try …

Chocolate Chip Scones

What makes brunch so fabulous? Perhaps brunch is popular because it’s an event where it’s socially acceptable to drink champagne before noon.  Maybe you love it because it’s a good way to have breakfast, lunch and dessert at the same meal.  Think of brunch like a diner where you can order a turkey sandwich with fries while your husband has french toast.  It also means you can have dessert more than once in just one day.  I think that might be the best part.  #sweetjunkie If you’re hosting a brunch (like for Easter this Sunday), then scones are a must have addition.  Just …

Best… Crumb Cake… Ever

Here’s the third installment in my Best Ever series!  What’s it all about?  Click here to get the scoop. Today I’m sharing with you the, Best… Crumb Cake… Ever.  If you like big crumbs then this is the crumb cake to end all crumb cakes. I’ve made roughly a bazillion (roughly 😉 ) crumb cakes and coffee cakes.  Wait, can you really compare crumb cakes to coffee cakes?  They are similar but definitely different.  Which one is better?  I’m getting side tracked.  Let’s save that debate for another day.  For the purposes of today’s post it doesn’t really matter because this crumb cake trumps …
