Here’s the Stuff I’m Into lately for winter: A warm cozy scarf. I have bought way too many scarves this fall and winter, but this dusty pink one is my most recent favorite. Moisturizers. I use a variety of hand creams, but L’Occitane’s shea butter hand cream has been my favorite for years and it is a favorite weapon in my on-going war against dry skin. Dark polish and statement baubles. I love to sport dark nail polishes, especially during the winter so I treated myself to Chanel’s Vamp nail color (sadly they don’t sell this color any more so I guess I’ll …
Peanut Butter Bomb Smoothies
It’s official, folks. I finally found a way to enjoy almond milk! Yes, I know, very exciting news. I have tried almond milk several times and in a variety of ways. Each of those times I found it gross, which is weird because I like almonds and I like milk. I don’t need to go dairy free (and I have no intentions of doing so either), but I want to expand my horizons. So with the new year upon us I thought I’d give almond milk another try. I’ve never tried it in a smoothie so I figure I’d give that a go. Well, …
Broccoli Quiche
Quiche is always a good idea for brunch. Am I right or am I right? For one of our hosting gigs last month, I wanted to make my crustless spinach quiche. I’ve been making that recipe for years and it’s always a winner. I thought I had spinach at home but I was wrong. (Ugh, must pay better attention when making the grocery list.) I didn’t want to spend 30 minutes in the car to make a grocery run (and I didn’t want to ask, I mean beg, my husband to go either) so I did some quick thinking. I …
Roasted Red Pepper Sauce, Chickpeas and Spinach
Hello, winter. It was almost 70 degrees F on Christmas day which is definitely not normal for Connecticut. Yesterday night dipped to 6 degrees F and the high was only 24 degrees F. Boy, that change is jarring. My life has now become all about keeping warm and hydrated. That means that I’m cozying up with a scarf, a sweater, blanket, or all of the above. I use lip balm and hand lotion more times a day than I can count. I never seem to have the stuff handy when I remember to use it which means that I go …
Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bites
I get choked up when NYC counts down the last 10 seconds of the year before the ball drops. Does anyone else get emotional when that happens? (Assuming you also watch it or something similar.) Maybe you can’t go by me because I cry at the same sad scene in a movie even if I’ve seen it a bazillion times. My new year’s resolution is to lose a few pounds, again. I seem to have that resolution about 10 or 30 times during the entire year so I’m not sure if that’s truly a resolution except that it happens to …
