Tropical Banana Smoothie In A Bowl

Alright Monday, let’s do this thing.

I haven’t had a smoothie in a while.  Remember when I was on a smoothie kick and I shared several smoothie recipes with you in a short period of time?  At that time I probably should have temporarily rebranded Tina’s Chic Corner to be Tina’s Smoothie Corner.  It’s only fair.  My husband fake rebrands his Bread Corner as often as the mood suits him.  🙂

I’m bringing smoothies back.  I should have taken advantage of the calorie free weekend.  You know, because calories don’t count on the weekends.  Instead, I decided to eat a little more on the healthy side, which meant consuming smoothies instead of the best pancakes in the world.  I’m sure that sooner or later I’ll return to my regularly schedule program of eating like my yoga pants can expand forever, but for now I’ll relish in the fact that I’m inspired to eat healthy.

I figure I’d go the smoothie route because any second now it will be Fall and I’ll be craving healthy oatmeal breakfasts.  That got me to thinking of my Tropical Smoothie,  then I got to thinking of how I have some bananas in the freezer.  Boom, this recipe was created.  It’s stupid easy and only requires three ingredients.  After all, Mondays call for everything being as easy as possible.  If you were to show me a five ingredient smoothie recipe, I simply wouldn’t be able to handle it on a Monday.  😉

This smoothie is mostly banana flavored with a hint of mango and coconut goodness.  Frozen bananas are magical.  Somehow, freezing them prepares them for becoming squishy later like a soft serve ice cream with just a bit of beating them up once they have thawed.  This smoothie is like a very soft ice cream because I added yogurt to get some protein in.   Even though I was shooting for a smoothie, I think I was subconsciously still trying to get my ice cream yayas out.  If you missed Friday’s post, I had some ice cream recipe failures last weekend.  Maybe I’m trying to redeem myself with this serve ice cream wannabe.

This ultra thick smoothie called for a bowl and spoon.  Feel free to use a glass and straw but you might need a lot of mouth power to sip it up.
