Broccoli Quiche

Quiche is always a good idea for brunch.  Am I right or am I right? For one of our hosting gigs last month, I wanted to make my crustless spinach quiche.  I’ve been making that recipe for years and it’s always a winner.  I thought I had spinach at home but I was wrong.  (Ugh, must pay better attention when making the grocery list.)  I didn’t want to spend 30 minutes in the car to make a grocery run (and I didn’t want to ask, I mean beg, my husband to go either) so I did some quick thinking.  I …

Apple Pie

Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, I realize that you’re probably out shopping on this Black Friday.  (Kudos to you if you got up early.  I have a date with my pillow.)  I also know that you may be sick of Thanksgiving foods.  But really, who could ever get tired of pie?!  Not me, yo.  So I declare the day after Thanksgiving to be Pie Friday. Giant Blueberry Hand Pie

Is it bad when your laziness is the inspiration for a recipe? My husband has been after me to make my Strawberry Hand Pies again.  The last crumb of those wasn’t even gone and he was already putting in his request.  That made me happy because I knew I had a real winner of a recipe. Strawberry Hand Pies Recipe (Makes 9 hand pies) Note:  This recipe requires 1 hour of chilling time. Ingredients for the …

Pear Bavarian Torte

When I host dinner parties, I love to serve desserts that impress my guests.  You know, the ones that get all the “oohs and aahs” when you present them.  Then the moment of awe is followed up with silence because everyone has their mouths full.   This torte meets both criteria perfectly by being both beautiful and delicious. This pear Bavarian torte is part shortbread, part cheesecake, part pear pie, and all addicting. Pear Bavarian Torte Recipe (About 12 servings) Ingredients for the Crust: 1/2 stick (equivalent to 1 stick) butter 1/3 cup white sugar 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup …
