Pizza Dough

Back by popular demand, my husband returns with another post from Dave’s Bread Corner… Like most people, when I think of pizza I think of some sort of fresh pie at a local pizzeria.  Who can’t claim to love the chewy crust and melty cheese of a slice that’s only managed to cool enough to avoid serious damage to your mouth?  There must be some magic secret that pizza shop chefs know that no one else can reproduce right?  Well, I certainly thought so. I’ve had the pizza dough you buy in the tube.  I’ve had the kind many grocery …

Italian Bread

This is the first bread post by my husband.  He jokingly referred to this as Dave’s Bread Corner, but admitted that he wasn’t really interested in making his own “wing” on my blog.  What this means to you is that bread with yeast and other things that could make it scary to make or otherwise super complicated are now possible.  In other words, you guys get a different variety of recipes that fall outside my comfort zone, my husband gets an audience and an excuse to make bread, and I get “free” posts that I didn’t have to cook (although …

Double Chocolate Banana Bread with Peanut Butter Icing

A few weeks ago my youngest sister came over so that I could help her make Almond Biscotti for her boyfriend.  Well, I mostly sat by and supervised.  She did all the work.  (Since that time, she came over again to make those same almond biscotti for her boyfriend’s family.  Yup, they’re that good!)  We talked and laughed so much.  It was a great day in the kitchen.     🙂  I wanted to bake something for her to take home and I’d been looking for an excuse to make this quick bread.  This is the best quick bread that I’ve made so far.  Intrigued? This is a sweet …

Cornbread and Spanish Olive Spread

What goes better with soup, crackers or bread?  This has been an ongoing discussion between me and my husband for the past few months.  I can go both ways, but when we have guests over I like to put out bread because I feel funny putting out a basket of crackers.  I’ve been making a lot of soups lately (if you couldn’t tell from previous blog posts) so I figured this was a good time to whip up some cornbread to go along with it.  With this delicious cornbread in the house, neither one of us is reaching for boring …

Beer Bread

Who is intimidated to work with yeast?  Hello out there?  I know that I’m not the only one.  It’s temperamental and I since I don’t have experience working with it, I’d second guess every step of the recipe.  Perhaps I’m not inclined to experiment with it since I have a husband who loves to make bread (and he’s awesome at it).  He actually likes that it’s a bit of an art to judge what is going on biologically when making bread.  Go figure.  Whether we are a hosting a dinner party or want to make homemade pizza for two, it’s a no brainer that my husband …
