Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake

My family loves baked goodies for breakfast.  Since they are in the area visiting I couldn’t resist making them something.  I’ve never made a coffee cake before and let me tell you that I’m in love with this recipe!  This was my first shot at this glorious morning goody and I wouldn’t change a single thing, which is rare since part of why I love cooking is for the fun of tweaking recipes.  Now I’m excited to share this with you, unabridged.     🙂 This cake is so moist and buttery.   The cinnamon and sugar filling is sweet, but not too sweet, …

The Perfect Chili

My husband and I love to cook and we make up recipes all the time.  So far this chili recipe is one of our best creations!  Sometimes a recipe is inspired by another one, and this one gets its original concept from a recipe given to my husband by a friend of his.  Over the years we’ve eaten many varieties of chili.  We’ve taken what we believe to be the best parts of them and turned them into this Perfect Chili recipe.  If you love a traditional hearty, thick, and meaty chili then you will fall in love with this …

Fudgy Brownies

I love chocolate.  When I’m out to eat with my husband I always pick the chocolate item for dessert.  There is something to be said about being predictable, right?     😉 So naturally I’m going to be in love with brownies, especially FUDGY brownies!  These chocolate decadent treats are heavenly for so many reasons.  How much time do you have? Homemade Peanut Butter

I love peanut butter, so I always have a jar of it in the house.  There are some store-bought brands that I adore but they contain artificial ingredients and sugar.  In an effort to eat more all-natural and healthy foods I tried some organic peanut butter brands.  For a lack of better words, they tend to be gross and “blah.”   Yup, that’s a technical term.     😉  I hate how the oil separates from the peanut paste even when it’s stored in the refrigerator.  Plus it’s so thick that it’s not tasty or enjoyable to eat. I never thought of making peanut butter.  Maybe it’s because …

Roasted Potatoes

Roasted potatoes are so simple to prepare that I almost felt guilty posting about it.  I, like most people I’m sure, know the concept – use potatoes, olive oil, salt, and pepper.  However, how much olive oil do I use?  What temperature do I set my oven?  How long do I cook them for?  These were all questions that I had and I thought maybe others did too which is why I decided to post about these delicious potatoes. Ina Garten to my rescue!  She gave me all the answers I needed and I in turn hope I can help you. If you are looking …
