French Fry Salad

I had my youngest sister in mind when I created this salad. One day my sister and I had a conversation about salads.  I have no idea how we even got on the topic.  Anyway, we said that everyone knows that a salad is supposed to be healthy.  Therefore we concluded that you could put whatever you wanted on it and the entire plate of food would still all healthy.  Let’s add ice cream, doughnuts, and cookies!  Yes, in our minds, if it’s on a bed of lettuce, all that junk food instantly becomes healthy.  😉  Unfortunately, we both know that’s not …

Power Salad

I don’t really believe in new year’s resolutions.  Instead I like to call it a new year’s evolution. Great phrase, right?  I wish I’d thought of it.  I heard Shailene Woodley (from the movie Divergent) say it the other day.  Speaking of Divergent, I still have yet to see it and I want to.  Has anyone seen it or read the books? Mediterranean Carrot Salad

Have you heard of a spiralizer?  There are many varieties on the market but essentially it’s a kitchen gadget that transforms a vegetable into something that looks like spaghetti, like this one.  It sounds like a great invention, but I don’t know if I’d use it more than twice before the cool factor wore off.  Do you have one?  And if so, do you think it was worth the investment? I decided to resort to my good old fashioned peeler instead to see if I could create a meal similar to what a spiralizer would produce.  Peeling carrots seemed like a …

Greek Quinoa Salad

I seem to always have food on my mind, whether it’s something I want to eat or a recipe that I want to create.  I’d say it’s a food blogger thing but I’ve been this way since before I had my blog.  I guess I’m just a big fan of food. The other day I was thinking about lunch time at about 10 am.  I was in the mood for quinoa and I was craving Greek food.   I used to hate quinoa a few years ago so it’s funny that I look forward to creating new recipes with it.  Just goes …

Indian Chickpea Salad

I finally watched the movie, Frozen, and I love it!  Don’t worry, I won’t talk about it in detail to avoid spoilers for those who haven’t seen it yet.  Olaf is seriously the coolest snowman ever.  (I want one!)  It’s a great movie with several good songs in it, but the song “Let It Go” stands out as being the one that is stuck in my head.  You know a song is stuck in your head when you find yourself singing it in the shower and in the car even over the radio playing a different song.  Even if you haven’t …
